COMPREHENSIVE PAIN CENTER OF MISSISSIPPI
September is National Pain Awareness month and we are happy to share with you some great info from our Stroll partner.

My name is Dr. Kevin Vance, and I’m the owner and medical director of Comprehensive Pain Center of Mississippi in Madison. This Pain Awareness Month, I’m honored to highlight our dedication to helping patients move beyond chronic pain and return to living fuller, more active lives—right here in the community we love. I’m a board-certified pain management specialist who has been serving Central Mississippi for over 15 years. I completed my anesthesiology training at University of Alabama at Birmingham, practiced anesthesia for many years with Jackson Anesthesia Associates, serving as Chief of Anesthesia at River Oaks Hospital before completing an interventional pain fellowship at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX.
Since founding Comprehensive Pain Center in 2008, my mission has been to provide advanced, patient-centered pain management solutions that address the root causes of pain while reducing opioid dependence. Our practice offers a range of innovative, minimally invasive treatments, including ViaDisc NP for degenerative disc disease, the MILD(minimally invasive lumbar decompression) procedure for lumbar spinal stenosis, Sacroiliac joint fusion for sacroiliac joint pain, Spinal Cord Stimulation for cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine pain, Kyphoplasty for compression fractures of the spine, and low-dose ketamine infusion therapy for certain chronic pain and mood conditions. With our on-site ambulatory surgical center, we’re able to deliver these advanced treatments safely, efficiently, and conveniently right here in Madison.
My family proudly calls the Madison community home, and I’m deeply invested in the health and well-being of our neighbors. I’m proud to lead a team of skilled nurse practitioners, surgical staff, and support personnel who share this commitment to personalized, compassionate care. We also believe strongly in educating our patients and the wider community about safe, effective pain management options, empowering people to make informed decisions about their health.
One tip I always share with patients is this: Don’t ignore persistent pain or simply “tough it out.” Pain is your body’s way of signaling that something isn’t right, and early evaluation can often mean more effective, less invasive treatment options. The longer pain goes unaddressed, the more it can change how your nervous system processes pain, making it harder to treat over time. If you’ve been living with chronic pain for months or years, know that safe, advanced solutions are available—and partnering with a qualified pain specialist can help you understand the underlying cause and create a personalized plan to get you back to living fully.
Did you know? For every pound of weight you lose from your abdomen, you reduce the load on your spine by up to six pounds, helping ease pressure on discs and joints and lowering the risk of low back pain.
