Kingwood wins its first Texas high school baseball championship in 20 years!

The championship team!

Kingwood Mustangs captured the UIL 6A Division II State Baseball Championship in a heart-stopping 5–4 win over Tomball at Dell Diamond in Round Rock, Texas. This was Kingwood’s second championship appearance ever in school history. Several of our own young Kings Point residents were members of the winning team!
Following the win, several players reflected on the season and what fueled their run to the state title. Kings Point resident and Senior Caden Callaway, who is headed to Cornell University this fall shared what the difference-maker was for this year’s team.
“This team was so close with one another, and every time we stepped onto the field, we all believed in each other and our ability to go out there and win. There wasn’t one game this year where we felt like we were at a disadvantage to any team. We believed in what we had, and we played with a chip on our shoulder each and every day. As a team, it was our mission to prove people wrong, as we started off the year unranked on every article. This pushed us at every practice, workout, and game to give it our all and show everyone who we were.”
Kings Point resident and Championship MVP Graham Charboneau, who delivered two doubles and an RBI in the title game, credited the team’s discipline and unity in his KHOU interview, moments after learning of his recognition, “It means everything. We worked 6 AM lifts…8 AM lifts. We all worked together for this. I could not have done this without my boys.” When asked about winning the title game MVP, he responded with grace. “It’s not me. It’s all my teammates. My teammates got me here. My teammates push me through and got me here.”
With a 39‑4 seasonal record, national top‑10 ranking, and state title to their name, the Mustangs have undoubtedly made their presence known. This title wasn’t about baseball alone—it was about faith. It was about the endless practices, early morning workouts, heartbreaking defeats that bred toughness, and the unwavering brotherhood that sustained them along the way. The team was even recognized by our own Houston Astros!
For Kingwood, this victory is a testament to the fact that when you believe in the process, trust your teammates, and refuse to give up, greatness ensues.
