Meet Brenda Hess with Elite Hospital Kingwood!

Brenda grew up in Conroe and currently resides in the North Montgomery County area.  Her family relocated to Texas in 1979 from Michigan. Brenda has two adult daughters, who have also chosen to pursue careers in the healthcare industry. Her oldest daughter graduated from Abilene Christian University with her BSN and currently works as a nurse. Her youngest will graduate from Abilene Christian University soon and is pursuing a career as a Child Life Specialist in a hospital setting. Spending quality time with her family is precious to Brenda as is her Christian faith. Brenda tells us “My relationship with Christ is the most important aspect of my life.”

When she’s not working, Brenda enjoys being outdoors in any capacity whether it’s working in her flower beds, exercising, or simply enjoying an evening relaxing in the backyard. She also enjoys getting in touch with her creative side by capturing life’s moments with scrapbooking and card making. Over the years she has also found long runs are a great way to relieve stress.

Brenda shares, “I grew up planning to be a special education teacher and track/cross country coach. However, after graduating from high school, God revealed to me that he had different plans. I found myself beginning a career path I had never considered, as a Paramedic.” Brenda attended Lone Star College where she graduated with her associate’s degree and became a Licensed Paramedic. Not long into her career Brenda was provided an opportunity to join Montgomery County Hospital District EMS where she worked as an In-Charge Paramedic for nearly 20 years, providing exceptional care to the citizens of Montgomery County. She tells us, “It was truly a privilege to work under a medical director who believed in advancing the pre-hospital care provided to those in need, by training paramedics to go beyond the norm as well as lifesaving interventions not typically initiated in the field.” After receiving her associates degree, she went on to graduate with both a bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Nursing, with an emphasis in Hospital Administration and Nursing Leadership.

Brenda began working for Elite Hospital Kingwood when it first opened, in January of 2018, as an ER Nurse. In 2019, Jeremy Brynes, the CEO, asked her to act as an interim CNO (Certified Nursing Officer) while he and the board sought a long-term candidate. After serving as the interim CNO, she was offered the full-time position, and after prayerful consideration, she accepted.

Elite Hospital Kingwood is a small format hospital that focuses on not only providing exceptional medical care to patients, but also a level of customer service they do not receive in traditional hospital settings. The vision of providing quality healthcare to our community originated in part from a group of local ER physicians who knew there was a better way of practicing medicine than what was offered in traditional hospital settings. Brenda shares, “We have the privilege of providing everyone with the care we would want our own families to receive. Being able to do what is right for patients, because it’s the right thing to do, is a refreshing type of emergency medicine that is unfortunately not often provided in other settings. Our patients are not merely a number, they are individuals who deserve to be treated as such. The exceptional care doesn’t end there. We work to provide this high level of care and consideration to not only our patients but also to our staff. It is truly a privilege to get to focus on both areas. Healthcare providers are often undervalued in larger organizations, and this lack of support for staff can ultimately result in poor patient care. At Elite Hospital Kingwood, I feel incredibly honored and blessed to be given the opportunity to ensure both patients and staff are cared for.”

Should you find yourself in an emergency situation, Elite Hospital Kingwood is here for you! You can find comfort in knowing they can manage any of your emergency medical needs. They can admit you into one of their private hospital rooms and manage your care for anything short of ICU level, urgent surgical needs, or admission for labor and delivery.  All areas of specialized medicine, such as cardiology, urology, infectious disease, etc. have privileges at Elite and will attend to you in the same personalized fashion that you will experience from all staff. They work to keep the nurse-to-patient ratio low, to ensure you are receiving the care you need from experienced nurses. They take the time to provide the reassurance and education needed to ease any concerns you or your loved ones may have.  Brenda says, “We hope you don’t need us, but we are always here if you do! 24/7, 365 days a year!” Elite Hospital accepts most insurance plans as well as Medicare.
