Field Brewing

More Than a Brewery, It's Westfield's Living Room

Every once in a while, I walk into a restaurant and immediately know it has something special.

Not because of the menu.

Not because of the beer.

Not even because of the beautiful building.

It's because of the feeling.

Field Brewing has that feeling.

Nestled just east of downtown Westfield, the stunning barn-inspired building welcomes you with soaring ceilings, warm wood finishes, natural light, and an atmosphere that immediately encourages you to slow down. Whether you choose the spacious dining room, the covered patio overlooking the bocce ball court, or a quiet corner with friends, you'll quickly understand why so many people don't just come here for dinner. They come to stay awhile.

That sense of community begins with owners Greg and Jackie Dikos.

Greg is an orthopedic surgeon, and Jackie is a sports dietitian, hardly the typical path into the restaurant business. Their shared love of the welcoming gastropubs they experienced on the West Coast inspired them to create something Westfield didn't have. Since opening in 2018, they've built far more than a brewery. They've built a gathering place centered around community, hospitality, and celebrating Indiana's incredible farms.

That philosophy is evident in every corner of the restaurant.

There are shelves filled with board games waiting to be played. Families gather around tables long after dinner is finished. Friends meet after work for happy hour. The calendar is packed with trivia nights, comedy shows, networking events, Latin dance lessons, live music, and seasonal celebrations. Even a simple sign joking that "Unattended Children Will Be Given a Shot of Espresso and a Free Puppy" reminds you not to take life too seriously.

Then there's the food.

Executive Chef Scott Atkins leads a talented culinary team committed to preparing nearly everything from scratch. There are no frozen fries, no high fructose corn syrup, and very few shortcuts inside these four walls. Sandwich buns are baked in-house, sauces are crafted from scratch, and ingredients are sourced from Indiana farms whenever possible. It's an approach that celebrates the changing seasons and allows the quality of the ingredients to shine.

Field Brewing has also built relationships with outstanding local producers, including Cornerstone Farms, Full Hand Farm, Moed Farm, Rivet Coffee, Amish Pretzel Company, Viking Lamb, Smoking Goose Meatery, and longtime partner Fischer Farms. Their fifth-generation Black Angus cattle and Duroc pork form the foundation for many of the restaurant's signature dishes, reinforcing the team's commitment to supporting Indiana agriculture.

The result is food that feels honest.

The burgers are everything you hope they'll be. Thick, juicy, locally sourced beef topped with fresh ingredients on a house-made bun that's soft enough to hold together until the very last bite. Pair one with the hand-cut Kennebec fries, prepared fresh to order, fried until perfectly crisp, then tossed with house seasoning, aged Parmesan, and served alongside ranch made from scratch. They may be some of the best fries in Hamilton County.

One detail I especially appreciated was Field Brewing's commitment to accommodating guests with dietary restrictions. They maintain a dedicated gluten-free fryer, allowing those avoiding gluten to enjoy those same incredible hand-cut fries without compromise. It's a thoughtful touch that reflects how much care goes into every guest's dining experience.

If you're visiting for the first time, though, I have one recommendation.

Order the wings.

Perfectly crisp on the outside, juicy inside, and paired with their unforgettable Alabama White Sauce, they may be some of the best wings you'll find anywhere in Hamilton County. Sunday Wing Night has become something of a local tradition, and after one bite, you'll understand why.

Of course, no brewery is complete without exceptional beer.

Field Brewing has earned statewide recognition for its craft beer program, including a bronze medal at the 2024 Great American Beer Festival for its Dill Pickle Sour. Whether you're a craft beer enthusiast or simply looking for something refreshing with your meal, the knowledgeable staff is always happy to help you find your next favorite pour.

Speaking of the staff, General Manager Taylor Wentworth has assembled a team that perfectly reflects everything Field Brewing stands for. Friendly without being overbearing, professional without feeling formal, they make every guest feel like a regular, even on a first visit.

There is something refreshingly authentic about Field Brewing.

The produce isn't always perfectly shaped because it's grown locally. The menu changes with the seasons because Indiana's harvest changes with the seasons. Nothing feels manufactured, and that's exactly what makes it memorable.

In a world where so many restaurants are chasing trends, Field Brewing has chosen something far more meaningful. They've created a place where incredible food, outstanding beer, genuine hospitality, and community come together under one roof.

Come hungry.

Bring friends.

Stay for another round.

And don't be surprised if, before you leave, you're already planning your next visit.
