Boots, Bites and Barn Nights

Kimblewick’s biggest Stroll event of the year brought more than 100 residents and partners together for a night of barbecue, live music, dancing and plenty of fun at the Big Red Barn.

More than 100 Kimblewick residents and Stroll partners traded their everyday attire for cowboy hats, boots and Western wear for one of our biggest community events of the year, Boots, Bites & Barn Nights!

Held at the Big Red Barn just outside the neighborhood, the evening brought together live music, dancing, barbecue, prizes and plenty of familiar faces. From the moment residents began arriving, it was clear everyone came ready to have a good time.

And they certainly dressed the part! Cowboy hats and boots filled the barn as residents embraced the Western theme. Debbie Madison and Dave Richards ultimately took home the honors for Best Dressed, earning some well-deserved bragging rights.

Of course, no barn night would be complete without a proper barbecue spread. Chef Kevin Black manned the grills and put together an incredible dinner featuring steak, pulled pork, BBQ chicken wings, mac and cheese, potato salad, baked beans, coleslaw and watermelon. There were plenty of favorites around the tables. Mary Ann Reklau especially enjoyed the steak, while Gwen and Richard Dirks gave high marks to the pulled pork. Residents also brought desserts to share, making sure there was no shortage of food throughout the evening.

Once everyone had a chance to eat, the Kimblewick 12 Band kept the party moving with live music. It did not take long before residents made their way onto the dance floor. Kimblewick's own Denise Rockwood led the line dancing, giving everyone an opportunity to join in whether they knew the steps or were learning as they went. Before long, the barn was filled with residents singing, dancing and enjoying the music together.
Kimblewick photographer Andréa Black was there to capture it all. Andréa photographed the festivities throughout the evening and created a dedicated photo booth wall on the covered porch of the barn, giving residents and friends a chance to grab a cowboy hat, strike a pose and capture another memory from the night.

There was plenty to win, too. More than $1,000 in prizes were given away throughout the evening thanks to the generosity of our Stroll partners. The ladies also went home with special swag bags made by Kimblewick resident Liz Koehne, with all of the swag bag giveaways generously sponsored by Level 10 Coatings. A huge thank you to Level 10 Coatings and Liz for adding another fun touch to the evening and making sure our ladies went home with a little something extra!

We also owe a HUGE thank you to Wellbrooke for providing shuttle transportation throughout the evening. Their team transported residents from Kimblewick to the Big Red Barn and safely back home again, making it easy for everyone to relax and enjoy the night without worrying about driving or parking. It was an incredibly helpful addition to the event, and we are so grateful to Wellbrooke for stepping up and taking such great care of our residents.

A special thank you goes to our Headline Sponsor, Ed Martin Buick GMC, whose support helped make Boots, Bites & Barn Nights possible. The Ed Martin team brought two beautiful trucks to display outside the barn and provided an incredible grand prize for one lucky couple. The winners received a $250 gift card to Bowdie's Chophouse in Zionsville along with the opportunity to choose any vehicle on the Ed Martin Buick GMC lot to drive for their special date night.

Ed Martin Buick GMC has continued to show its commitment to the Kimblewick community, not only by supporting events like this one, but by being a trusted local resource for residents looking for a new vehicle or dependable service. Stroll Publisher Andrew Taba can personally attest to that relationship. He purchased his wife's SUV from Ed Martin and continues to take it there for service because of the team's honesty and the care they put into taking care of their customers and their vehicles. We are grateful to have partners who do more than advertise in the magazine. They show up and invest in the community.

By the end of the night, residents had enjoyed plenty of barbecue, posed for pictures, sung along with the band and danced their way around the barn. More than anything, Boots, Bites & Barn Nights was another opportunity for neighbors to simply spend time together and have fun.

A huge thank you also goes to the Stroll Kimblewick Social Committee for helping bring the entire evening together. From planning and coordinating to all the little details that happen behind the scenes, their time and effort helped make the night such a success. Thank you as well to everyone who attended, brought desserts, donated prizes and pitched in throughout the evening. With more than 100 people joining us and so much positive feedback afterward, this was certainly a night to remember.

Thank you EVERYONE for coming out and making this a night to remember! And if you missed this one, don't worry. We're already working on our next big Kimblewick gathering for January. Stay tuned. We have another fun night in store!
