26 Island Drive
Porch Life and Personal Touches

Mary Haley didn’t have to look far to find her dream home—just across the bridge from where she grew up on LaRoche Avenue. For nearly a decade, she’s called Island Drive home, drawn to the familiar rhythm of the tides and the easy camaraderie of neighbors and lifelong friends.
Her midcentury house, built in the 1950s, underwent a full-scale renovation that spanned an entire year. “It was fun, just lengthy,” Mary admits with a smile. The result is a space that blends character with comfort, anchored by her favorite feature: the porch. It’s more than just a sitting area—it’s a gathering spot, a quiet retreat, and the backdrop for countless family get-togethers and impromptu visits from friends.
While the heavy lifting is behind her, Mary still toys with the idea of adding a garage—or maybe even a pool. “But I keep talking myself out of it,” she says. For now, the home feels complete, full of history, hospitality, and a deep-rooted sense of place.
At 26 Island Drive, it's not just the house that stands out—it’s the way it brings people together.
