Tiny Dog, Big Boss - Life According to Zorrie

Adventures of a four-pound Yorkie with a lot to say!

Hi there! I’m Zorrie, four pounds of Yorkie attitude. I’m a one-year-old AKC-registered Yorkshire Terrier, and according to my human parents, Mark and Cindy, I’m in my teenage years, but what do they know? I’m just livin’ the dream, as my dad likes to say. Personally, I think I’m living my best life. Eat, sleep, and play—that’s what I’m talkin’ about.

I’ve collected quite a few nicknames along the way–Zo, Lil Z, and Monkey Moo are my favorites. I know… a little weird, right? That last one still confuses me, but apparently it comes from the funny little noises I make when I’m getting puppy massages and scratches.

My life with my brother Teddy came to an abrupt end the day Mom and Dad picked me up in Bennington, Oklahoma. I was just 10 weeks old. I wasn’t too sure about that long car ride to my new home, but Mom cuddled me the whole way while Dad drove. I missed my roly-poly playmate at first, but I slowly realized my new family was going to be just as wonderful. Turns out being the only puppy has its advantages. Now I absolutely adore my forever family… mostly because they spoil me rotten. It’s pretty much the life of Riley being the little princess of the house. Honestly, I run the place.

Mealtime is a bit of an event around here. Mom says I’m supposed to go to my “Place” and wait patiently while she prepares my food. But first, I run over and jump on her legs, just to make sure she hasn’t forgotten about me… as if she could! Then I’ll go to my “Place” and wait… although there may be a little dramatic whining involved. I mean, when you love food as much as I do, patience is overrated. And quite frankly, why make a perfectly good human wait to feed you?

Tiny? Maybe. But my little body holds a whole lot of love for my humans—and pretty much everyone I meet. I’m always ready for kisses and cuddles–especially curling up on Mom or Dad’s chest for a cozy nap. I also love it when my human brother and sister-in-law, Ben and Madi, and my human sister Megan and her boyfriend Cody come around for a visit. I get all kinds of attention. Can anyone say, “I’m in heaven?”

One of my favorite things is daily walks with Mom around the neighborhood pond. There are so many interesting smells out there. I sniff everything—grass, sidewalks, bushes… you name it. Being this small means I have to stay alert… you never know when someone might need protecting from a suspiciously swirling leaf or a squirrel with questionable intentions. My small size does have one drawback though: sometimes I get tuckered out and have to rest right on the sidewalk, especially if it’s a warm day and I find a shady spot. I just stop and drop, mostly because I can.

But that’s just me—Zorrie. Four pounds of curiosity, cuddles, and personality. I may be tiny, but I take my responsibilities very seriously: supervising my humans, inspecting every smell on our walks, and reminding everyone that the tiniest dog in the house is very clearly the one in charge. It’s a big job for such a little dog—but somebody has to do it. And quite frankly, I think I’m doing a pretty excellent job… because around here everyone knows who the real boss is.
After all, four pounds of Yorkie attitude has a reputation to maintain.
