Finley Writes Her Own Article

Family member names: Jason and Corinne Hayes
Pet’s name: Finley
Type of animal/breed: Goldendoodle
Pet’s age: Just turned two December 2nd 2023!

Where did you get Finley? From Zona Doodles, located in Arizona. We wanted a reputable breeder who had performed genetic testing on the dogs they used for breeding and limited breeding with each female.

Is there a story behind Finley's name? I always loved the name Finn for a dog, we didn’t expect to get a female but after meeting her (via Facetime) we fell in love. She was the calmest in the litter, but you could also tell how smart she was by the way she was intently watching her siblings play while the breeder held her. This demeanor still holds true today.  She has the sweetest, calmest energy and gentle demeanor.

Anything special or unusual about Finley? She absolutely loves meeting other dogs and is convinced that every dog in the neighborhood is her friend. In an effort to greet them, she will just lay down on the sidewalk hoping they will come over to say hello. I think people assume we trained her to do this or she’s tired and taking a rest. Really, she just wants to meet your dog! Haha.

What do you like best about Finley? She adds the sweetest energy to our home. She makes us laugh every day by her goofy personality and playful nature. I can say without doubt, that we don’t deserve dogs and she has enriched our life so much.

How spoiled is your pup? We always joke that she’s not spoiled she’s just so sweet that it’s hard not to dote on her. Lol.

Finley’s version:
My name is Finley.  I’m originally from Arizona. I met my new dad when he flew out to pick me up at 8 weeks old. I’ve never forgiven him for the plane flight home.  Little did I know that I was about to meet my new mom and best friend in the whole world.  I follow her from room to room and rest where I can still see her.  I love to take walks around the neighborhood every day and check out all the new smells.  My mom says whoever came up with slow down and smell the roses must have had a dog.  Sounds like someone I’d like to meet.  I’ve developed my own special way of saying hello to other dogs by lying down on the sidewalk and not letting my parents pull me away.  It doesn’t always work, but I keep trying.  One day on a walk, I was really excited to see one of my friends. I decided to lie down in the intersection and army crawl my way closer to them.  Some of the humans were laughing at me from their cars.  So, I don’t think I’ll try that one again.  At home, I love to sleep in my favorite chair.  It’s big enough for me to lay on my back when I’m really tired.  Sometimes I get treats for learning new tricks and new toys for doing nothing at all.  My parents are always telling me how much they love me and hope I never get old.  Whatever old means.  Well, I’m going back to my chair to do what I do best.  Hope to see you in the neighborhood!
Love, Finley.
