Hello, Neighbors, Friends and Sponsors,

Happy Independence Day Y'all! After the fireworks, may the joyful spirit of celebrating with family and friends last throughout the season. A delightful summer is all about the slowdown to bask in sunny days, take early morning walks, naps, reading real books (not on a device) and spending time with loved ones. I encourage everyone to put away the phone for an actual face to face interaction. I know it's scary, but in a fabulous way! Make a plan and stick to it, no excuses or cancellations. One of my favorites is to meet friends at the History Center for coffee from Brash and walk Valley Road for several miles. With each step, it's amazing what we learn about each other and how our problems don't seem as daunting. Walking might not be for everyone but, that's the great thing about freedom...we can choose our own path to finding joy!

Please welcome our newest Precious Pet sponsor, Fix Georgia Pets. Launched in 2012, Fix Georgia Pets embarked on a mission fueled by compassion and determination—to dramatically decrease the number of pets facing euthanasia in Georgia’s overcrowded shelters. Their aim is to empower organizations across every county with grants that enable access to affordable, if not free, spay/neuter services. Not just by reducing numbers; but creating a statewide network of care and support, ensuring every pet has the chance for a healthier, safer future. To find out how you can help, please visit fixgeorgiapets.org/contact-us/.

In closing, I'd like to say that I'm forever grateful to our business partners who make this community-written magazine free to all the residents. A huge thank you to the many residents who contribute by sending in stories and neighborhood updates. Stroll Historic Brookhaven (also known as Historic Brookhaven Living) would not exist without the support of our community.

I look forward to meeting more incredible people in the area and sharing your stories.

With Much Gratitude,

Cynthia Carns
