From 2020 to 2025
DECK = Launch a four-color magazine in the thick of the COVID-19 pandemic? Some would call us crazy but we had a vision based on the strong community within Historic Brookhaven. Five years later, the publication is going strong, each month celebrating the people, pets, events, historic structures, and groups that make up Historic Brookhaven.

Mabry Road resident and travel agent Cynthia Harris enticed neighbors with dreams of a 2021 European Christmas market cruise. Drs. Holiday mailbox decorating is a longstanding tradition across Atlanta and it began in Historic Brookhaven. In 1990, resident Toni Rhett wanted to thank Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta for the phenomenal care her daughter Alix received. Toni heard of a garden club that was decorating mailboxes elsewhere and decided that would be the perfect way to raise funds for CHOA. She solicited friends to help her finetune and market the idea, and Mailbox Brigade was born.

On East Brookhaven Drive, Jerry and Betty Ann Albert’s backyard is full of stone structures (gazebo, benches, bridge, pond, terraces, pathways, and stairs) dating way back.

Still performing, Jeff says he won’t turn his redneck jokes into a series on Brookhaven or Buckhead. He and Gregg enjoy time with their grandchildren and supporting charities. November also marked the burial of a new neighborhood time capsule (opening in 2048).

Historic Brookhaven is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as Georgia’s first planned golf course community. SUBHEAD = Spotlight Families
NOTE – FOR PHOTO USE COVER FROM OCTOBER 2024
The crux of our magazine is community. Monthly, we feature one family on our cover. We strive to choose a variety of residents and alternate longtime neighbors with new ones. We have featured celebrities, multigenerational families all living in Historic Brookhaven, association leaders, young families, business leaders, and more.
