Welcome to the December issue of Stroll Historic Brookhaven! Whether you celebrate Christmas, Channukah, or something else, may your season be beautiful and blessed.

The holidays are the time for entertaining. Rebecca Webb, the mother of this month’s spotlight family, loves to cook, organize events, and connect with friends. She shares one of her favorite quick-and-easy holiday appetizer recipes, and with husband Den tell us all about their family.

As you start to decorate your home, do you find yourself searching endlessly for that favorite Christmas dish towel or snowflake candy dish? If so, read organization guru Carrie Peeple’s column on planning ahead to better organize and store your holiday décor.

If you’re looking for a way to give back this season, read our charity focus on the Atlanta Ronald McDonald House Charities (ARMHC) and Ronald’s Holiday Workshops. You can donate toys and volunteer at the holiday pop-up for families staying at ARMHC. If December is too hectic, learn about other ways to help.

This month’s Precious Pets are Bernedoodle Tucker and Goldendoodle Rosie. They filled the void left when Allison and David McKee’s last pup passed three years ago and have been keeping the empty-nester couple laughing and smiling ever since.

October and November were full of neighborhood events. Peruse our pages for photos and updates from the neighborhood Halloween Party, Ladies of Historic Brookhaven Social Club, and more. Check out the article on Little Nancy Creek Park and potential updates, including more cardio and older-kid equipment.

In our Landmark column, we cover the second area of Historic Brookhaven to be developed: Oglethorpe Park. Edwin P. Ansley marketed these parcels from East Club Lane, down what are now Lakehaven and East Brookhaven Drives, and along Club Drive and Davidson Avenue in 1914.

I love holiday traditions, from my husband decorating our yard in Clark-Griswold-style to passing around the creepy Gandy-family elf with my brother and his kids to Seven Fishes on Christmas Eve. I’d love to hear about yours. Contact me at lgwargo@aol.com.

Happy reading!
Best,
