For Scott Edmiston, financial planning is about more than numbers—it’s about guiding people toward a secure and meaningful future. As an agent with New York Life Insurance Company and a Registered Representative with NYLife Securities LLC, Scott brings over 30 years of experience as an investment and insurance analyst to his clients. His approach is grounded in integrity, long-term vision, and a lifetime dedicated to disciplined service.
Scott’s foundation for success was built early. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy and later an MBA from Indiana University. He went on to earn the prestigious Chartered Financial Analyst® designation, reflecting his deep understanding of financial markets, portfolio management, and investment strategy. His military background—serving in the U.S. Navy’s Submarine Force and later retiring from the Naval Reserves as a Lieutenant Commander—instilled in him a sense of precision, reliability, and leadership that continues to define his career.
Today, Scott focuses on helping individuals and families grow as much tax-free wealth as possible while implementing sound financial protection strategies. Whether it’s retirement planning, life insurance, or wealth transfer, his mission is to empower clients to live within their means, plan for the future, and avoid the pitfalls of procrastination. “I wanted to put my experience to work to help people plan for their futures,” Scott shares. “It’s about building confidence and peace of mind.”
Beyond his professional work, Scott is an active participant in the New York Life Foundation’s Grief-Sensitive Schools Initiative. This program provides teachers and administrators with the tools to support students coping with the loss of a loved one—an effort that reflects Scott’s compassionate character and belief in service beyond business. Scott is also highly involved in community activities, speaking at the Kane County Chiefs of Police Association, at the Will County Regional Office of Education, volunteering at Camp I Am Me Golf Outing Fundraiser. He is a member of the Geneva Chamber of Commerce and a Stroll Highland Woods Business Partner.
Scott understands that growing a book of business takes time, patience, and the ability to establish a reputation for competence and ethical behavior. Once he reaches a designated level of production, he plans to affiliate with New York Life’s registered investment advisor, Eagle Strategies LLC, expanding his capacity to offer clients more comprehensive financial guidance.
With one son in the area and family in Oregon, Scott values strong relationships and believes in building trust through every interaction. His message to others is simple yet profound: “Live within your means. Plan for your future. Don’t procrastinate.” It’s advice he’s lived by—and one that continues to shape his remarkable journey.
