Since moving to Highland Woods in 2016, Kajal Patel and her family have found far more than a place to live — they've found a true sense of home.

For Kajal, her husband Chirag, their children Ayesha and Yashan, and their lovable dog Leela, life in this special Elgin neighborhood is centered around family, hard work, faith, and community.

Their story spans continents. Kajal grew up in India before moving to Australia, where she earned her Master's degree in Business from Curtin University in Sydney. After marrying Chirag, she relocated to the United States to begin the next chapter of life. Chirag, who grew up in the Chicago area and previously lived in Streamwood, brought his own entrepreneurial drive to the partnership, backed by a Bachelor's degree in Finance from Ohio University.

Interestingly, their story began through Shaadi.com, where they first connected long distance. After months of phone conversations built on trust, shared values, and genuine connection, they knew they had found the right match.

That strong foundation continues to shape both their home life and professional success.

Together, Kajal and Chirag have built multiple businesses, including American Family Insurance - Kajal Patel & Associates, an accounting firm, a property management company, and a lending business. Kajal also serves as a licensed real estate professional, balancing her professional ambitions with a deep commitment to family life.

At home, teamwork is the secret ingredient. Kajal enjoys creating a warm, welcoming home and loves cooking for her family, while Chirag handles outdoor responsibilities and financial management. Their partnership reflects mutual respect and a shared vision for the life they are building together.

Their children are at the center of it all. Ayesha, 10, will soon begin middle school, while 6-year-old Yashan heads into first grade. Both children stay active with tennis and basketball, learning confidence, discipline, and teamwork along the way.

And then there's Leela, their affectionate Bichon Frise-Shih Tzu mix — better known as a teddy bear dog. Gentle, playful, and endlessly loving, Leela is very much part of the family rhythm.

Faith also plays a central role in the Patel household. Kajal and Chirag have intentionally raised their children with gratitude and spiritual grounding, beginning and ending each day with prayer.

The family treasures both their Indian heritage and American traditions. Diwali remains their biggest annual celebration, filled with light, joy, and meaningful customs, while Christmas and other American holidays are equally embraced as part of their family culture.

When they're not working or cheering from the sidelines, you'll likely find the Patels enjoying bike rides, neighborhood walks, local parks, 5K events, or community gatherings. Giving back matters deeply to them as well, with support for organizations like Feed My Starving Children helping teach their children the importance of service.
