The Love She Kneaded: How Sourdough and Community Shaped Christina’s Story

Since 2009, Highland Woods has been home to Christina Moses—and what a beautiful journey it’s been. From moving in with her parents after college to building two homes and raising a family, Christina’s connection to the neighborhood runs deep. Today, she’s best known as the warm heart and creative hands behind Kneaded by Christina, a growing sourdough business rooted in love, community, and good food.
What started as a personal baking project during a quiet season turned into something much bigger. “I was baking for friends and family when I realized how much I loved sharing what I made,” Christina says. From rustic sourdough loaves to cinnamon rolls, scones, focaccia, and pizza dough, her kitchen became a place of joy and generosity.
As demand grew, so did her need for a more reliable pick-up system—especially after a few ground squirrels got to the bread before her customers did. That’s when “The Bread Shed” was born, a small outdoor hub where neighbors now pick up their orders on bake days. It’s more than just a bread box—it’s a symbol of connection and community.
Christina also teaches Sourdough 101 classes, helping others learn to feed and care for their starters, shape dough, and create gut-healthy bread at home. Her advice? “Just go for it. You’ll fail a few times—and that’s okay. Sourdough is a process. It’s about rhythm, patience, and finding joy in learning.”
Beyond baking, Christina is the Vice President of HR for a natural and organic food brokerage, the President of Central District Girls Softball, and a busy mom. “Baking is my escape,” she says. “It’s where I feel most creative.”
She’s constantly experimenting, fueled by recipe ideas from her community and inspiration from fellow bakers on Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube. “My brain is always spinning,” she laughs. “There’s always something new to try.”
The greatest reward? “Hearing from people who’ve enjoyed my bread,” she says. “Seeing it on their tables during dinner or holidays—there’s nothing more fulfilling.”
