Meet Hayley Martin
From Elgin to a D1 North Alabama Athlete

Hayley Martin, a 21 year old junior at the University of North Alabama (UNA), has been part of the Highland Woods community since second grade. She has always appreciated the neighborhood's pool, workout area, and the peaceful bridge by the water—a favorite spot for reflection and relaxation.
As a right-side hitter on UNA’s women’s volleyball team, Hayley’s journey in the sport began in fifth grade, but she didn’t compete seriously until eighth grade. Her hard work and dedication paid off last year when her team made history by qualifying for the conference tournament for the first time in UNA’s Division I history. Traveling to Florida for the tournament, hosted by Florida Gulf Coast University, was an unforgettable experience for Hayley and her team.
Balancing the demands of being a student athlete has strengthened Hayley’s time management skills. With study hall hours built into her schedule, she has learned to plan ahead and stay on top of her academics while keeping up with the rigorous demands of collegiate volleyball. One of her biggest inspirations is her assistant coach, Isabel, a former player at Houston, who provides both expert guidance and valuable mentorship, having once been in Hayley’s shoes.
Looking ahead, Hayley hopes to pursue a career in sports marketing for a professional team. She carries with her the advice of her head coach, who often says, “How you do anything is how you’ll do everything.” This perspective reminds her that consistent effort in all areas of life translates to success when it matters most.
Highland Woods is proud to recognize Hayley Martin for her achievements and the dedication she brings to her sport, academics, and future aspirations!
