Cuttingo Engraving: Brothers in Service and Craft
For brothers Fredie and Alex Treviño, their story is one of family, faith, hard work, and service. Their parents came to the United States at a young age, determined to give their children more opportunities than they had. That foundation of perseverance and pride in one’s work became the cornerstone of everything the Treviño brothers have accomplished.
“My father, the oldest son of a Mexican father and a half-Mexican, half-German mother, worked hard to help his family,” said Fredie. “My mother was raised by a single mother who was determined that her daughter would go to college and make something of herself.” That drive to push forward and make a difference shaped both brothers from a young age.
Fredie earned a Bachelor of Science in Software Engineering from DeVry University, applying his education toward a meaningful path of service. Soon after graduating, he joined the U.S. Army Reserves, where he continues to serve his country with pride and dedication. His time in the Army Reserves have taught him discipline, leadership, and the importance of community—values that carry through in his civilian life and business.
Alex, meanwhile, has shown extraordinary strength of his own. Diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia at just two years old, he endured years of treatment and has been cancer-free since 2009. His resilience inspired the family and motivated him to pursue a degree in Cybersecurity at DeVry University, following in his brother’s footsteps in both education and determination.
The idea for their business, Cuttingo Engraving, came unexpectedly. Fredie once needed an item engraved and struggled to find a local shop that was both affordable and reliable. “I realized I could learn how to do it myself—and maybe help others the way I was hoping to be helped,” he said. From that idea, Cuttingo Engraving was born.
Today, they specialize in laser engraving on glass, wood, metal, acrylic, plastic, and more, creating customized pieces for individuals and businesses alike. They engrave for restaurants, law firms, real estate offices, doctors, and anyone celebrating special moments such as birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, and retirements.
The Treviños also partner with K-9s for Veterans, a nonprofit helping train service dogs for disabled veterans. Cuttingo Engraving provides memorial mementos for fallen soldiers and dog tags for graduates of the program—a heartfelt extension of Fredie’s own military service.
“Shopping local businesses gives a more personal and homey touch,” Fredie said. “We’re a united family working together to grow, help others, and support our neighbors.”
