Roo: The Gentle Giant of the Wessinger Family

Ten-year-old Roo, a brindle brown Pit/Rottweiler mix with endearing big brown eyes, is a cherished member of the Wessinger family.

While living in San Diego, where the family resided for seven years until their return to Ohio in 2022, Roo embraced the Californian lifestyle.

Phil and Madeline, alongside their lively sons, Parker (4) and Miles (1), adore her. Although she may look intimidating at first glance, Roo is a sweet canine who loves to snuggle and behaves as if she weighs only ten pounds, not sixty. Her patience knows no bounds, even with her rambunctious human brothers, and she even has a healthy fear of the Wessingers’ 11-year-old cat, George.

Roo faced adversity early in life when a car accident left her with a broken hip. Following her surgery and recuperation, a local rescue organization facilitated her adoption by the Wessingers, who welcomed her with open arms.

While living in San Diego, where the family resided for seven years until their return to Ohio in 2022, Roo embraced the Californian lifestyle. Swimming, being a “beach bum,” and biking along the boardwalk topped her list of favorite activities on the West Coast. Nonetheless, she has seamlessly transitioned to life in the family’s new Highland Lakes home, where she relishes the spacious backyard and has taken on the role of "protector" against passing deer.

Energetic Roo delights in walking, chasing the kids during their playful moments, and spending time with her cousin, Jax, an 11-year-old labradoodle. Whenever her dad prepares meat, Roo eagerly anticipates indulging in the trimmings she knows he will share with her.

The Wessingers are thrilled to have returned to Westerville and enjoy reading Stroll to stay up-to-date on everything happening in the neighborhood. If you see them out for a walk with Roo, say hello!
