Enchanting Adventures Await at the 2024 Storybook Village: A Magical Experience for Families
Each year, Ohio Village at the Ohio History Connection transforms into Storybook Village, a magical venue that allows families to step into stories, engage in fun activities, and meet some favorite characters.

My family has attended this annual event many times, and my kids always delight in the immersive and interactive experience.
Meeting Characters
Storybook Village brings to life a collection of beloved storybook characters and friends from PBS shows such as Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood and Super Why. My kids have had exciting experiences, such as meeting the Wicked Witch from The Wizard of Oz, playing croquet with the Queen of Hearts from Alice in Wonderland, joining the Mad Hatter for a whimsical tea party, and chatting with Rapunzel whose long braid hung from a second-story window.
Crafts and Activities
The Ohio History Connection and its partners offer a variety of fun and engaging activities throughout Storybook Village. In past years, my kids have enjoyed creating necklaces using magic beans, decorating colorful masks, and coloring bookmarks for lonely neighbors with Seeds of Caring. They have also had fun interacting with precious animals in a petting zoo and dancing to lively musical performances by the Shazzbots.
Exploring the Historical Village
Storybook Village takes place within Ohio Village, a history museum that transports guests to the American Civil War era. Therefore, as kids engage with Storybook Village characters and activities, they also learn about history through their surroundings. My children have donned the dunce cap in a schoolhouse, played old-fashioned lawn games, and wandered through historic buildings that bring a bygone era to life.

This year’s Storybook Village will occur on Saturday, June 8, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. While activities and characters vary each year, families will surely have an enjoyable and memorable experience.
