For years, the former Marketing Center sat quietly along the shoreline of Hidden Lake. Once a welcoming hub during the neighborhood’s earliest days, the building gradually fell into disrepair. What once represented possibility became a reminder of a past chapter rather than an active part of the present community.

Today, that story has changed.

Through the vision, collaboration, and commitment of Hidden Lake neighbors, the building has been completely reimagined as The Quarry Club — a private membership club designed to bring residents together for connection, activities, and shared experiences within the neighborhood they call home.

This transformation is not simply about renovating a building. It represents something deeper: a community investing in its future and creating a place where friendships can grow for years to come.

“As it stood, the former marketing center was becoming blight in an otherwise beautiful neighborhood,” shared Hidden Lake neighbor Marji Hunnewell, who helped spark early conversations about restoring the space. “Making it a part of our neighborhood again makes our community whole.”

For years, neighbors shared ideas about what the space could become, with several even considering purchasing the property themselves. Among them, Matt Bissett had long envisioned transforming it into a private club.

As conversations continued, Marji began bringing neighbors together, fostering dialogue that gradually shaped and strengthened the vision Matt had carried for years. Through a series of neighborhood meetings she led, the concept became more defined and widely supported.

As momentum built, Dave Scrivano initiated conversations with Steve LaFave, helping move the idea closer to reality. Matt ultimately joined forces with Dave, Chuck Conlen, and Scott Mayer to bring the vision to life through the purchase of the building.

Along the way, families including the Blinders, Zebleys, Hoffmans, Devines, Bisaros, and Steps contributed their ideas, helping shape what would become a truly special gathering place.

Together, the concept began to take form.

“We want to continue to make Hidden Lake a premier community,” said Dave Scrivano, who joined the project as an investor. “The club will become central to the spirit of the neighborhood.”

The name itself reflects the history of the land. Hidden Lake was once a sand quarry before becoming the vibrant community residents know today. The Quarry Club honors that origin while creating a space focused on the future — a place to gather, celebrate, and connect.

What once felt like a forgotten building now stands as one of the most exciting new additions to the neighborhood.

What began as an idea quietly carried by a few has now become something shared by many. With the vision realized, the focus turned to creating a space that would feel as meaningful as the idea behind it— and worthy of the community it was created for.

From the moment residents step inside The Quarry Club, the intention behind the design becomes immediately clear. The space was thoughtfully created to feel welcoming, comfortable, and flexible enough to serve many purposes, from casual conversations to celebrations and special events.

Interior design for the project was led by Hidden Lake resident Melissa Bissett, who helped shape the warm, inviting aesthetic throughout the building. Natural textures, comfortable seating areas, and thoughtfully curated finishes create an atmosphere that feels both elevated and relaxed.

Construction of the club was completed through the efforts of several talented neighbors and professionals, including builder Steve Crane, electrical work by Devine Electric, and construction support from Dan Kyser. Amy Crotty provided the windows. Hidden Lake resident Matt Scrivano contributed one of the building’s most striking architectural features: a custom floating staircase that brings both beauty and craftsmanship to the space.

Ongoing maintenance and repair services are provided by Todd Mailloux, while the club is managed by Katelyn Darkangelo, helping ensure the space continues to operate smoothly for years to come.

The layout was intentionally designed to offer multiple gathering spaces throughout the club. Upstairs, the Lookout — a private room with an adjoining balcony — provides a cozy setting overlooking the lake and surrounding neighborhood, ideal for quiet conversations, book clubs, or smaller gatherings.

Outside, the Horizon Deck extends the experience into the outdoors, creating a beautiful lakeside setting where residents can gather during warm weather and take in the scenic views.

Throughout the building, thoughtful details reflect the unique character of Hidden Lake. One particularly meaningful feature is the custom sinks designed in the shape of the lake itself, a subtle tribute to the place that brought the community together.

Nestled beside the shimmering waters of the former quarry-turned-lake, The Quarry Club feels like a natural extension of the neighborhood’s landscape.

Spaces designed for gathering, unwinding, and celebrating now sit right in the backyard of every Hidden Lake resident.

Every detail reflects not just design, but intention. And while the design sets the stage, the true heartbeat of the club lies in how it will be experienced.

While the physical space is beautiful, the true purpose of The Quarry Club lies in the experiences that will unfold within it.

The club was designed to be a place where neighbors can connect regularly, whether through thoughtfully planned activities or spontaneous moments of gathering.

Activity programming is led by Marji Hunnewell, while day-to-day operations are managed by Katelyn Darkangelo, ensuring the space remains welcoming, organized, and enjoyable for both members and guests.

Events are thoughtfully planned throughout the week to offer something for residents of all interests. Weekly programming includes FIGR Fridays, a deck workout experience that brings neighbors together for fitness and fresh air.

Members will also enjoy Thursday night game nights, where favorites like Euchre, Bunco, Catan, and other rotating games create an easy and familiar rhythm of connection.

Sports enthusiasts can look forward to Saturday college football feature days, designed with a tailgating-style atmosphere where residents can gather and watch games together.

Additional programming throughout the year may include Paint & Pour evenings, financial planning presentations, social mixers, and other curated experiences that continue to bring residents together.

The vision is simple: create a place where something is always happening.

“You might come to watch the Super Bowl, play pool, or have a drink with friends,” Hunnewell shared. “There’s always something happening and someone to enjoy it with.”

Some events will be included with membership, while select activities will also be open to non-members through participation fees.

For Hidden Lake resident Randy Step, the concept feels instantly familiar. “Something like the bar from Cheers,” he said with a smile. “A place where everyone knows each other and lasting friendships are built.”

It’s not just about what’s happening, but who you’re sharing it with. Beyond everyday connection, the space was also designed to hold life’s bigger moments.

In addition to everyday activities, The Quarry Club will also serve as a premier event venue for Hidden Lake residents.

The space will be available for private celebrations such as graduation parties, bridal and baby showers, birthday gatherings, and other meaningful events.

Rental options include the Horizon Deck, the Lookout, or the entire club space depending on the size and type of gathering.

Members enjoy preferred rental pricing, with rates beginning at $1,000 for four hours on the Horizon Deck and $2,000 for the full club. Non-members may reserve the Horizon Deck for $2,500 or the entire club for $4,500. The Lookout is also available for more intimate gatherings.

The club’s catering kitchen makes it easy for residents to host events with food service and hospitality, creating a seamless experience for gatherings and celebrations.  The Quarry Club also offers catering and coordination services if desired.

For many residents, having such a venue within walking distance of their homes opens the door to more opportunities to celebrate life’s special moments with neighbors and friends.

Membership at The Quarry Club offers Hidden Lake residents access to a thoughtfully curated collection of amenities designed to enhance everyday life within the community.

Membership includes a $10,000 one-time initiation along with $1,500 in annual dues. All membership options include the annual dues and provide access to exclusive events, amenities, and club facilities.

Memberships may also be transferred to another Hidden Lake resident upon the sale of a home, helping preserve the club’s connection to the neighborhood for years to come.

Throughout the space, members enjoy a variety of amenities including comfortable lounge areas, a pool table, dart board, and streaming services.

Complimentary fountain beverages are available, along with mixers such as tonic, club soda, and juices, with snacks offered throughout the club for added convenience.

Members may also reserve personal lockers to store beverages or supplies, while the bar area is fully equipped with glassware for wine and cocktails.

A commercial ice system allows members to fill coolers with cubed, crushed, or specialty ice before heading out onto the lake.

To support seamless daily use, the club features two commercial dishwashers along with consistent cleaning services to maintain the space.

Technology adds an additional layer of ease. An ultra-premium coffee bar allows members to select and customize their drink directly from their phone or the in-club iPad, creating a personalized experience with every visit.

Members arriving by boat will also have access to adjacent dock space, making it effortless to transition from time on the water to time at the club.

Twice each year, members will gather for fully catered celebrations — one in late spring and another in early fall — bringing the community together for seasonal moments of connection.

For Hidden Lake resident Randy Step, one perk already stands out. “My wine locker,” he shared with a laugh.

While The Quarry Club operates as a private membership club, its founders have emphasized the importance of staying connected with the broader Hidden Lake community.

To introduce the space, the club will host an open house kickoff event, offering residents the opportunity to explore the newly renovated building and experience the vision firsthand.

Additional events will take place throughout the year in partnership with the neighborhood social committee and Stroll Hidden Lake, creating ongoing opportunities for connection and shared experiences.

The club also plans to support charitable causes by offering one or two complimentary rentals each year for nonprofit fundraising events. The club recognizes that there are many great charities supported by residents including the John Drypen foundation, LACASA, ChadTough, and Angels of Hope. 

Select activities will be open to non-members as well, with some events offered at no cost and others available through a participation fee.

The intention is to create a space that supports connection across the entire community while still preserving the benefits of a private club.

“Community means caring for others and understanding the experiences that shaped their lives,” Hunnewell said.

Early enthusiasm for The Quarry Club was evident as neighbors stepped forward to become founding members.

Since opening its doors in April, The Quarry Club has already begun welcoming Hidden Lake neighbors into the newly transformed space.

For many residents, stepping inside has been a powerful moment — seeing a once-neglected building come back to life as a place filled with laughter, conversation, and connection. For those who helped bring the vision forward, the opening represents the beginning of a new chapter for the community.

“We love supporting anything that makes our neighborhood better,” said Randy Step. “This will be a place to share fun times with our neighbors and build lasting friendships.”

Others are simply excited to see the space being enjoyed as it was always intended.

“We’re excited to walk into The Quarry Club and find friends, make new friends, and create a place that draws people in,” Marji Hunnewell shared. “Whether it’s morning coffee, a football party, or simply time spent together, it will become a place where people give to others as much as they receive.”

Whether it’s a casual coffee stop, a Thursday game night, or a celebration with friends, The Quarry Club is quickly becoming a natural extension of life in Hidden Lake — a place where connection happens easily and memories are made.

As one resident summed it up perfectly, “A place where you walk in and feel like you’re home.” And in many ways, that’s exactly what it has become — not just a place to go, but a place to belong.

To introduce the newly transformed space, The Quarry Club will host a Full Neighborhood Grand Opening this spring, inviting the entire Hidden Lake community to experience the club together.

The evening will feature “BBQ at the Q,” with The Quarry Club opening its doors for the night to all Hidden Lake residents. An evening to connect, celebrate, and experience what’s next for Hidden Lake.

Guests can enjoy a full BBQ buffet, music, and kids’ activities, creating a festive atmosphere designed for families, friends, and neighbors to gather and celebrate the new space together. Both members and non-members are warmly invited to attend and experience The Quarry Club for themselves.
