Three Crowns Electric – Creating Opportunities for Excellence

Not only is Three Crowns Electric the top rated electrical contractor in Windsor two years running, but owner Jon Trujillo has a unique means of ensuring that his six professionally licensed and fully insured electricians consistently provide the kind of service that keeps the business one that area residents will continue to call and refer to others.

Jon grew up in Casper, Wyoming and moved to the Highland Meadows area of Windsor five years ago with his wife Brooke and three children, Gavin, 16, who attends Fossil Ridge High School and plays football; Farrah, 11, who attends Bamford Elementary School and plays volleyball, training with the NORCO Volleyball Club and Rocky Mountain Elite; and Eli, 6, who also attends Bamford and plays soccer with the Rapids Soccer Club. The family moved here for more temperate weather and the feel of a small town that is still close to the faster pace in Denver and their favorite football team, the Broncos, plus restaurants, shopping, and recreation like boating, skiing in Steamboat, and hiking.

But Jon also saw this fast growing area as the perfect place to start his second family owned and operated electrical business providing all residential and business needs from lighting installations to full house, business or basement remodels. He prides himself on reasonable rates, prompt service, flexibly scheduling and above all else, safe and worry-free electrical systems for his customers.

Jon has over 20 years of experience, starting in the trade in 2001 taking night classes at Casper College to earn his Journeyman license. His first job in electrical work was right out of high school with a large electrical contractor, where he learned everything from wiring new home construction to a whole hospital wing. This early experience translated into his passion for having his own business.

He realized that dream in 2008 in Casper, with his first electrical contracting firm, competing on and completing large jobs like Pizza Ranch, Wendy’s, Texas Roadhouse and Starbucks. After growing eventually to 13 employees, he sold that business in 2021 but wasn’t finished with entrepreneurship yet.

With Three Crowns Electric’s founding, Jon decided to not just provide the same quality service as with his previous firm, but to also provide career paths for individuals, many of whom are young people who didn’t have the means to attend college or weren’t certain about their professional aspirations. His firm would do as his first contracting employer had done for him and help others succeed in a rewarding career as licensed electricians. As such, Three Crowns pays 100 percent of his apprentices’ schooling and then supports their transition every step of the way toward their Journeyman licenses. Relatedly, Jon and his staff also work with school counselors to encourage high school students to shadow their work to learn more about possible career paths.

And through that process, both the individuals and Jon’s customers benefit. Meanwhile, Jon and his firm also give back to the community by involvement in the Windsor Chamber of Commerce, the Better Business Bureau of Northern Colorado, and numerous philanthropic events from school fundraisers to first responder benefits.

Jon summarizes his business philosophy best when he says, “The reason I love what I do is that I build customer relationships, I watch a project from start to finish, and am then satisfied that we contributed to the life safety of community members’ homes or businesses.”
