Amber and Michael Williams

Newcomers Amber and Michael have lived in the Hammock Bay community for less than a year and already love the small-town feel.

If you’ve eaten at Repicci’s of the Panhandle, you’ve likely met Amber. She and her husband, Michael, purchased this popular gelato, sorbetto and Italian ice food truck last year. Amber runs the food truck while Michael moves his law practice from Atlanta to Florida.

Originally from Michigan, Amber discovered Michael on social media in 2015 after seeing a number of pictures of him on a church mission trip in Kenya. She reached out to him, which prompted a conversation, and the rest is history! In 2019, the pair married on the beach in Sandestin. Michael is originally from Atlanta, where he has been practicing law for over 20 years. Amber was a stay-at-home mom to their children for much of that time. Between the two of them, they have five grown children: Catherine, Bryce, Robert, Ashley and Samuel.

Like many vacationers to the Destin area, Amber and Michael knew after several visits that this was where they wanted to live all the time. Then last year, Michael's mother moved to the Air Force Enlisted Village near Eglin AFB. “That convinced us that the time was right to finally make our move to the area,” Amber shared.

After looking at numerous communities in Fort Walton Beach, Destin, Niceville and surrounding areas, Amber and Michael decided Hammock Bay was the perfect fit. They had done a number of food truck events in the neighborhood and took a closer look each time. “Hammock Bay had the best combination of all the things we were looking for: a vibrant, growing community, lots of amenities, wonderful people and a small-town feel,” Amber said.

As a couple, Amber and Michael enjoy traveling to new places and are planning a trip to Italy, France and the U.K. They also make the trek to Michigan each year for Christmas. When they are in the area, you might find them cooking and eating out in local shops and country stores. Currently, their favorite restaurants are Sushimoto, Old Florida Fish House, Harbor Docks and Sweet Southern Comfort. Michael loves camping whenever he gets the chance, while Amber enjoys shopping.
