Rambunctious Ryder in Residence
If you happen to be strolling down Kimberly Avenue in North Asheville, you may spot a dog named Ryder.
Ryder is a 5-year-old Wheaten Terrier who loves running back and forth along the fence, as close to the street as possible. He enjoyed it so much that he eventually wore away the grass, inspiring owners Alison and Craig Hack to install artificial turf now affectionately known as “Ryder’s Racetrack.”
“When we moved in, Ryder was just a puppy, and so many neighbors stopped to ask about him that we had a sign made for the fence with his name and birthday — October 15, 2020,” Alison explained. “That led to countless conversations and introductions with neighbors. We even learned that Ryder shares a birthday with the home’s former owner!”
If you see Ryder out front, feel free to stop by and say hello. Chances are, he’ll be playing his favorite game: chasing ropes with Craig. Ryder loves meeting neighbors, but please don’t feed him any chicken treats — he’s allergic!
