Fall is a season for planting, preparing and planning.  It's an excellent time to plant trees and shrubs, refresh garden beds and prepare landscapes for winter. It's also the perfect time to step back and think about bigger changes.

Patios, walkways, retaining walls, fire pits and complete landscape renovations require thoughtful planning—especially in our mountains, where slope, drainage and access all matter. Starting in fall and winter gives homeowners time to develop a cohesive design, select materials and be ready for installation when conditions are right.

Sometimes the best place to start is by asking, how do I want to live outside?

This fall also marks two years since Hurricane Helene forever changed Western North Carolina.

For our family and Sprinkle Creek, the loss was personal. Our river property in Asheville was devastated, our office and equipment destroyed. Like thousands of our neighbors, we found ourselves cleaning up, figuring out what could be saved and deciding how to rebuild.

We kept working.

Over the past two years, our team has helped with property cleanups, landscape restorations and rebuilding projects while rebuilding our own business.

As we mark this anniversary, we're proud of how far Western North Carolina has come. The entire community stepped forward in ways we will never forget.  We also remember what was lost—lives, homes, businesses and familiar places that changed forever. Families and communities continue to carry that grief, and there is still much work ahead.

Two years later, we can both remember what we lost and celebrate how far we've come.

Sprinkle Creek Landscaping has been part of the WNC community since Pat founded the company in 1990. Our roots extend far beyond landscaping. When we're not creating outdoor spaces for our clients, you'll often find us enjoying the outdoor spaces we've created at home—or the ones nature created for us!

We believe strongly in investing in the community where we live and work, and Helene only strengthened that connection.

As another fall arrives in these mountains, we're grateful to still be here—planting, designing, building and rebuilding alongside the community we've called home for more than 35 years.
