Northwest Florida Wound Care and Hyperbaric Center

A Stroll Grand Lagoon Interview

Tell us a little bit about the business.
NWFL Wound Care and Hyperbaric Center is located at 11501 Hutchison Blvd, Suite 109, in Panama City Beach. We are a full-service wound clinic, offering wound care and hyperbaric oxygen treatment. We have a full-time on-site physician and a caring staff that is highly experienced in wound care and hyperbaric treatment. We are here to take care of your non-healing wounds.

What is unique about this business?
We have a large multi-place hyperbaric chamber that can seat 12 patients comfortably per treatment. This is significantly different from traditional mono place units. Multi-place chamber benefits include:
  • Increased comfort for patients in the open, spacious chamber.
  • Due to the large capacity of the chamber, we rarely have a wait list to begin treatment.
  • Camaraderie among patients, which enhances the patient experience and improves adherence to the plan of care.
  • Hyperbaric technologists are in the chamber with patients, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
When it comes to wounds (as well as all the conditions that the hyperbaric chamber heals), what advice can you offer to the residents?
For wounds to heal there are multiple things that need to occur. Proper nutrition and hydration, appropriate dressings that will keep a proper moisture level, and making sure infection isn't present. HBO is an additional therapy that can be used in conjunction with the above for various conditions, such as diabetic wounds, delayed healing due to radiation and osteomyelitis.

What else should we know about the business?
We are pleased to announce our new clinic physician, Dr. Leonard Fichter. Dr. Fichter brings with him 28 years of wound care experience. Board certified in general surgery, Dr. Fichter has also worked with hyperbaric oxygen therapy since 2013. Dr. Fichter is caring and knowledgeable, and is looking forward to treating all your wound care needs!
