“The best advice I can give someone when they are wanting to travel is to work with an independent travel advisor,” Erin Elliott suggests. “Get with someone they know, like, and trust. You are already paying for the service, you might as well work with an individual instead of a website or a call center.”

Born and raised in Paoli, Indiana, Erin has been on a mission her entire life to make the world a better place through helping others. That passion led her to study social work at the University of Southern Indiana, put herself through school debt-free, and work across fields from the postal service to teaching Zumba — all while nurturing a lifelong love of travel.

That passion turned into a side hustle in 2012, and then a full-fledged business by 2017, when Erin founded Majestic Memories Travel & Vacations, Inc. Since then, she’s been doing what she does best: helping people discover the world in the most stress-free, affordable, and meaningful way possible.

What began as friends asking for help planning Disney trips turned into something much bigger: “I always thought using a travel agent cost extra,” Erin admits. “Once I found out it didn’t, I jumped in.”

She started with Disney, then expanded to cruises, all-inclusives, and eventually worldwide travel. 

“We plan vacations and travel globally,” Erin explains. “And now I mentor other agents to do the same. If I train them, they can help others in their circles. It’s how I can reach more people and keep making a positive impact.”

Because for Erin, travel isn’t just about escape — it’s about empathy. 

“By helping people travel, learn about other cultures, and connect with people different from themselves, we grow understanding,” she notes. “And through understanding, we hopefully grow empathy. This is my way to serve.”

Though based in a small town in Indiana, Erin and her team are very connected to Louisville. 

“We have several agents in the greater Louisville area. We live, serve, and help the local community,” she affirms. From vendor events to Waggin’ Tails on the Waterfront, they show up and give back.

“I’m also a workaholic,” she admits. “I’m not saying that to brag, but I work hard and I work weird hours. I just want to be there for people.”
