Libby and Lamar Wiggle Into Our Hearts

Type of animal/breed:
Boxers
Pets age:
Libby is 6, and Lamar is 3
When & where did you adopt your pet?
We have had both of them since they were tiny puppies.  Libby we got from a family in southern KY, and Lamar from a friend whose boxer had puppies.  Lamar was the ultimate Christmas surprise of 2021 when Mom, Jennifer, had Santa leave Lamar on the porch to surprise Dad, Domenic, and then 6-year-old Christian. Needless to say, there were happy tears.
What made you decide to make your home your pet's forever home?
My husband grew up with a boxer named Lady.  He has always loved this breed of dogs as they are playful and great with kids.  We have had several boxers, but decided in 2021 that Libby needed a friend, so we got Lamar.
How did your pet get his/her name?
Libby was named by my nephew, who suggested Liberty.  Our previous boxer, who passed away, was named Glory when we got her from a rescue in Phoenix, AZ.  So we thought Liberty was the perfect fit.  We quickly gave her the nickname of Libby, and it stuck.  Lamar is named after none other than #8 himself, Lamar Jackson, former UofL quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner.
Does your pet have any favorite toys, places to sleep, visit, etc?
Libby absolutely loves tennis balls.  She will cry and beg for one anytime it's in sight if she cannot reach it.  Lamar loves anything that squeaks.  They love to sleep on the two white side chairs in our living room, we joke that they are the "dog recharging stations".
Tell us something quirky or funny that your pet does:
As true to their breed they LOVE to wiggle their butts.  They are always excited when we come home.
How has having your pet made your life better?
Lamar is the ultimate snuggle lap dog.  If you sit on the couch, you better believe that all 90 lbs of him will find his way to your lap in no time.  Dogs love unconditionally, and they have a way of sensing when their humans need extra love after a rough day.  Libby and Lamar are the best "siblings" to their human brother, Christian. When people ask him about being an only child, he often responds, "No, I have Libby and Lamar."
Is there anything else you want to tell the neighbors about your pet?
They LOVE a car ride and love going on walks.
