McCain's Construction & Handyman Services

Brad McCain is having the time of his life building custom homes for individuals and families in Denton County and surrounding areas. But make no mistake: he has no interest in limiting himself to large-scale construction projects. Brad wants to do it all—from installing Grandma Ethel’s ceiling fan to building fences, tackling bathroom remodels, and, yes, creating new homes and commercial spaces.

That’s why the word handyman is still included in his business name. And by the looks of it, it’s not going away anytime soon.

“That’s what I started doing 13 years ago. My mom told me to go get a job, so I was the 10-year-old down the street with a lawnmower and leaf blower, mowing lawns for $10 so I could go to the movies and buy a cap gun,” Brad said with a laugh. He is now the proud owner of McCain’s Construction & Handyman Services. “I was blessed to figure out at an early age what I loved doing.

“I love fixing things and helping people. My mom was a single mom; my grandparents were like my best friends. In each instance, I watched them get taken advantage of by people in this business. I wanted to do it better, and I haven’t looked back since.”

If Brad’s last name sounds familiar, you’re not wrong. His grandfather was former UNT football coach Fred McCain, who, along with other coaches, recruited former NFL defensive lineman and Hall of Famer “Mean Joe” Greene to the college in 1966. Brad’s father has been an established business owner in the area since the 1970s. Having grown up surrounded by such fantastic role models, it’s no surprise that Brad learned early on the value of integrity, perseverance, and doing things the right way.

He carried those lessons with him to the University of North Texas, where he earned a degree in aviation logistics. But even as he pursued that path, Brad never lost his passion for hands-on work. He offered handyman services throughout high school and college and was never afraid to take on a project—regardless of how big or small it was.

In 2013, during what started as another run-of-the-mill day working in a cubicle, he had an epiphany.

“I remember looking out the window and noticing these guys mowing the lawn outside our office,” Brad said. “I thought to myself, ‘Man, I’d rather be doing that. I formed my LLC during lunch and quit my job. It was just me at first, and I think I only made $12,000 that first year. But it steadily grew, and here I am with eight employees and a project list that includes big and small projects.”

Brad really does offer a wide range of home improvement solutions at McCain’s Construction & Handyman Services. This includes everything from siding repair and installation to kitchen and bathroom remodels, decks, fences, room additions, and even commercial and residential remodels and custom home building. With years of experience and a team of skilled professionals, McCain's Handyman Services is the go-to handyman service for turning home or business renovation dreams into reality. From small repairs to complete remodels, their expertise in all aspects of renovation ensures that no project is too big or too small.

“There are plenty of people out there who do what I do, but what makes me different is what I call the 5% method,” he said. “That extra 5% it takes to make sure even the smallest details are taken care of, the phones are being answered, and warranties are agreed to, is what can make or break a company. Anyone can build you something, but are they going to answer the phone a month from now?”

When he’s not working, Brad enjoys playing the guitar, golfing, and spending time with his wife, Danielle, and two children.
