As someone who has worked in the dental field for over 30 years, Heather Walker understands the frustrations many people have with traditional teeth whitening. “I worked as a dental assistant for 12 years in Argyle, and I remember this one mom, in particular, telling me that she wanted her teeth whitened but couldn’t afford it. Teeth whitening can cost $500 per visit, and insurance doesn’t cover it. She had the trays and gels, which were half the price, but she admitted she didn’t want to use them,” Heather said. “I couldn’t blame her. So, I started looking into it.

 

“Once I told people I was starting my teeth whitening studio, they all thought it was a great idea. It all came together from there.”

Heather started working in the dental field in 1992. She was 16 and had found the opportunity through the office-ed program at her high school. Needless to say, she ultimately went to dental assistant school and cobbled together a pretty successful career. At the time, she had no clue where her clients would come from—in many ways, she hoped they’d find her.

“I’ve lived in Denton since 2003, and I loved the idea of having a business right on the square and being involved in my community,” she said. “Over the years, I’ve volunteered my time to SPAN/Meals on Wheels, the Denton Main Street Association, and the Denton Chamber of Commerce. I also donate teeth whitening services to organizations that raise money for things I really care about.”

 

When she’s not brightening smiles, Heather enjoys spending time with her husband, Justin, and her son, Spencer Sileo. Justin and Heather have a brand-new puppy named Starry (after the Dallas Stars). Heather also plays on two women’s soccer teams, one of which is through the North Texas Women’s Soccer Association.
