Ascension Episcopal School
Why a Quality Preschool Matters More Than Ever
Preschool is where the foundation for a lifetime love of learning begins. At Ascension Episcopal School, our program nurtures the whole child—academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually—within a safe and supportive environment.
Our teachers meet each child where they are, using research-based practices to guide growth across all developmental areas. Children learn by doing, moving, and gaining exposure to various educational experiences. Through play-based learning, hands-on experiences, and enrichments such as music, motor development, chapel, library, and Innovation Lab, the learning experience at Ascension is a dynamic and engaging one.
Social-Emotional Growth
For many children, preschool is their first structured social environment. It is here that they begin to understand others’ feelings, build friendships, and develop emotional awareness.
At Ascension, our Social-Emotional Counselor supports students through classroom guidance, small group work, and individual support when needed. We also partner with parents and teachers to foster healthy emotional development.
Our approach to discipline emphasizes connection, safety, and problem-solving, helping children build strong relationships and internal motivation to make positive choices.
Communication Skills
Strong communication begins early. In our preschool classrooms, children are encouraged to engage in conversation, answer questions, and express their ideas. Over time, these interactions grow into more thoughtful discussions, helping students develop the confidence and language skills they need for kindergarten and beyond.
Growing Independence
Preschool is an important step toward independence. Children learn to follow simple routines, clean up after activities, and separate from parents with confidence.
At Ascension, these skills are introduced gently and supported with care, helping each child build confidence and a sense of responsibility in a nurturing environment.
Fine Motor Skills & Early Academics
From drawing and coloring to hands-on art projects, preschool is where fine motor skills begin to take shape—laying the groundwork for writing and other essential tasks.
Students are also introduced to early academic concepts such as letter recognition and sounds, providing a strong and developmentally appropriate foundation for future learning through reading.
At Ascension Episcopal School, preschool is more than preparation; it is a place where children feel loved, supported, and are encouraged to grow. By focusing on the whole child, we create a foundation of skills, confidence, and curiosity needed for a successful start in school and in life.
