Authentic Indian Fare at Destination India

On Monday, July 31st, Stroll Fernewood guests were treated to a sampling of Destination India at another Neighborhood Night Out. Located at 5503 Johnston Street, it’s an authentic taste of Indian cuisine located convenient to Fernewood who came to the area earlier this year.

Relocated all the way from Derry, New Hampshire, Destination India endeavors to bring a fine-dining Indian cuisine experience to Acadiana. Committed to utilizing only the purest and freshest ingredients, the goal of each meal is the preparation of traditional Indian favorites to no less than the highest standards of quality and flavor.

On this night of graciously hosting Stroll Fernewood’s guests, General Manager Mani Murugan and his team were put to the test.  With a guest list that included many first impressions to be made, the short-handed Destination India team rose to the occasion.  Guests were first treated to a delicious array of appetizers- Vegetable Samosa, Gobi Manchurian, Chicken 65, and Chili Chicken.  A tasty assortment of warm, melt-in-your-mouth naan breads followed the appetizers and then accompanied the guests’ entrée choice of either Aloo Gobhi Mutter, Yellow Dal, Baingan ka Bharta, Chicken Curry, Butter Chicken, Chicken Tikka Masala, or Coconut Shrimp Curry.  With everyone in attendance already having to take much of the main course to go, the Destination India generosity continued with two dessert options- Gulab Jamun and their unique spin on a local favorite, Bread Pudding.

Guests certainly left with their bellies full, but also with a full appreciation for Destination India’s pride in their native fare and commitment to not just serving food but serving customers well.
