Capturing Life’s Sweetest Beginnings

with Petite Studios LLC

Nestled just minutes from downtown Naperville, behind Edward Hospital, Petite Studios LLC is where timeless moments meet artistic vision. Specializing in maternity, newborn, baby, milestone, and family portrait photography, owner Angelica Koskela has built a serene haven for families across the western suburbs to celebrate life’s most precious chapters.

“My journey into photography actually began with animals,” she shares with a smile. “My first business was called Pet Studios — a natural start since I’ve always been an animal lover.” That love of connection and patience behind the lens became the foundation of her craft. After welcoming her own baby in 2011, her focus shifted from furry friends to tiny newborns — and her passion truly took root.

“I quickly realized that newborn photography is unlike any other type of work,” she explains. “It requires patience, skill, and a deep understanding of safety. I took workshops and spent countless hours perfecting my approach.” That dedication transformed Petite Studios into one of Naperville’s most beloved destinations for newborn and milestone photography.

Families who visit her cozy home studio instantly feel at ease — the calm, curated space features warm wood tones, clean white backdrops, and gentle natural light that reflect her signature style. Whether it’s a newborn’s first portraits, a joyful cake smash, or a festive holiday session, every session is tailored to feel relaxed and meaningful.

What makes Petite Studios truly unique is the personal touch behind every photo. With over a decade of experience — and repeated recognition among Naperville’s top newborn photographers — she brings not only technical expertise but also a gentle, nurturing presence that parents appreciate. Her “Baby’s First Year” sessions have become a cherished tradition for many local families, allowing them to document each stage of growth from bump to birthday.

“I love being part of the Naperville community,” she says. “The families here value connection and memory-making — it’s inspiring to work with parents who are celebrating those milestones together.”

This fall, Petite Studios is celebrating the season with Christmas Mini Sessions during the first two weeks of November — complete with the best real-beard Santa in the Chicago area! These sessions have become an annual favorite and fill up quickly, but for those who miss out, Mother’s Day Minis return in the spring.

Outside the studio, her story is as heartwarming as the images she creates. Born and raised in Bogotá, Colombia, she met her husband while he was on a business trip there. Two years later, they married and settled in his hometown of Elmhurst, where she embraced life as a stepmom to four wonderful children. “They made the transition so easy,” she says warmly. “I truly feel lucky to have such a loving family here.”

And while photography has become her calling, her first love was dance. “As a teenager, my dream was to become a professional ballet dancer,” she recalls. “I studied classical ballet for years — it taught me grace, discipline, and appreciation for every delicate moment. That foundation absolutely influences how I photograph today.”

Her love of animals remains close to her heart, too. “I’ve always adored Bichons. I had two — Puffy and Buddy — who lived to 16 and 15. I miss them every day.”

From her ballet beginnings to her heartfelt work behind the camera, Petite Studios LLC is more than a photography business — it’s a celebration of love, family, and life’s beautiful details.
