My name is Jezebel

Hi! My name is Jezebel. I'm a 5-year-old purebred Dogo Argentino, but my mom likes to call me a purebred Couch Potato (I prefer to think of myself as laid-back and easygoing)! My mom is pretty awesome, even though she insists on having roommates and lets two cats and two birds live with us. They're total freeloaders, but at least we have an unspoken agreement: if they leave me alone, I leave them alone. It's been an okay arrangement so far.

My mom and I used to live in Los Angeles, and we loved going to the dog beach to swim in the ocean and play with other dogs. But then the COVID thing happened, and Mom couldn't take me there anymore. Since then, I don't like being around other dogs anymore, but Mom is helping me work on that. I even made a new friend named June, but playing with little hoomans is way more fun. They get so excited when my mom has me tell them about all the things, and I gotta admit, I love being the center of attention! I always make sure to be extra gentle because I know they're smaller than me.

Two years ago, Mom took me and our freeloading roommates on a road trip across the country to live at Grandma's house. We visited the Grand Canyon, adventured in the mountains of Colorado, saw 1,400-year-old hooman cliff dwellings at Mesa Verde, and even camped at the Rio Grande del Norte National Monument! Each night, we did this thing Mom called "boondocking," where we parked in the wilderness to sleep. Being a Dogo Argentino, I had to keep everyone safe at all times, especially during nighttime, even though there was never anyone around—I take that job very seriously! My favorite part was when Mom let me run around off-leash every morning to explore as she prepared for the day's drive. I maintained my good girl status by never wandering off too far and always coming back right away when she called me.

Living with Grandma is the best, and we also have a big backyard to play in! Mom and her twin sister (don't worry, I can tell them apart!) own a pet-sitting business called The Pet Guardians. They know so much about animals and are really good at what they do! Life with my family is just perfect, except when Mom tells me I've had enough snacks! A girl's gotta eat, right?
