Hand in Hand - A True Valentine's LOVE!

Written By Resident Lainey Mastropietro

John and Lainey Mastropietro moved from Canada to Lakeland in 2001.  They moved to Eaglebrooke on their anniversary, July 1, 2016.  They love living in Eaglebrooke and call their home their “Forever” home.
John and Lainey love to walk to the gate three or four times a week or ride their side-by-side tandem bicycle.    When they are out and about around Lakeland, people sometimes stop them and say – “I know you two”, we see you walking or riding your bicycle around Eaglebrooke”.
Actually what John and Lainey do most is exercise, read, watch their favorite movies ( Lainey loves to watch Heartland, filmed in Alberta, Canada).  They go to movies and eat at their favorite restaurants- Mr. T’s, The Terrace Grill and Scarpas.
Lainey and John often attend Bingo, Trivia and other events at the Clubhouse with their daughter and son in law, Kathy and Bob Dyckson, who live just across the street from them on Whisper Woods Drive.  They also have three other children. Three boys- one in Massachusetts and two in Canada. They also have five grandchildren.
John is originally from New Jersey.  He was educated in Kings Point Military Academy and Seaton Hall University.   Lainey from Newfoundland, received her education at Royal Roads University in Vancouver Canada.
John and Lainey are still working, although, on their own time.  They run two online businesses.  One educational family business with Kathy and Bob and one business providing online continuing education to water well drillers throughout the nation.
Lainey recalls her first date with John.   She says her heart pounded as she checked her makeup in the mirror. She was going on a date.   Not just any date, though.  A Valentine’s Day Date.  It was February 14, 1982, and they were married in 1987.
