The Crawford Family

Where Foundation Meets Family

For more than 15 years, the Crawford family has called Daniel Island home—a place where their roots have grown deep, both personally and professionally. Originally drawn to the Lowcountry in 2002, Rob and Ginny Crawford first discovered the charm of Daniel Island during a visit to the now-legendary Sienna Restaurant (today’s beloved LIDI). It was love at first sight.

In 2008, shortly after welcoming their first son, Ginny’s parents purchased one of the Park Cottages, introducing the Crawfords to the rhythm and spirit of island living. Two years later, the family found a foreclosure opportunity on the south side of the island—one that Rob, with his building expertise, transformed into a home. They now reside on the island’s north side, raising their three boys—Ford (17), James (15), and Harrison (12)—in the community they’ve grown to treasure.

With three active and uniquely spirited boys, family time in the Crawford household is a blend of adventure and connection. From boating, movie nights, and family dinners to golf, beach days, and music (with the kids playing and the parents listening), there’s always something going on. Ginny has rekindled her lifelong love of horses and spends time at the barn, while Rob enjoys hunting, fishing, and hitting the golf course.

Beyond their personal life, the Crawfords have also left a professional mark on the island. Rob is the founder of Renaissance South Construction Company, a custom homebuilding firm known for blending lifestyle-centered design with elevated craftsmanship. The idea behind Renaissance South was born from Rob’s early passion for historic restoration and hands-on building experience. After working for a respected renovation firm East of the Cooper and donning a toolbelt himself, Rob launched the company in April of 2008—just as their first child was born and the country was on the brink of a financial crisis. Ginny, then pursuing a career in education, joined him in running the business. Together, they built Renaissance South on the foundations of clear communication, integrity, and a deep desire to help clients elevate their everyday lives through thoughtful spaces. Today, the majority of their projects come through client referrals—a testament to their trusted reputation and meaningful work.

Working and living on Daniel Island has given the Crawfords a unique perspective. With every custom project, they strive to uncover and honor each client’s personal design style, partnering with top architects, talented designers, and their own in-house team to ensure each detail reflects the homeowner’s vision.

And while their professional and personal lives are filled with structure and design, there’s no shortage of surprises in the Crawford household. Rob loves to cook—especially outdoors on the weekends. Whether it’s cheesesteaks sizzling on the griddle or slow-cooking a picanha or Boston butt on the Green Egg, cooking is a calming force for him and a favorite excuse to entertain. Ginny is a blue-ribbon dressage rider (though she’d never be the one to tell you that). And the boys? Well, they found out they were going to be featured in a magazine during the photo shoot—and not one of them has run away yet.

We’re thrilled to introduce the Crawford family to our readers and are grateful to have both their heart and their craftsmanship as part of the Daniel Island community. Welcome to the pages of Stroll!
