Say hello to the Newman's

From the land of peaches to the land of pines

Family Member Names: Frankie, Amy, Addyson (15) and Bella (13)

Pets: Charlie, a miniature Bernese Mountain Dog

Professions:
Frankie, IT Consultant
Amy, Realtor at Live.Luxury. (Powered by Live.Laugh.Denver. Real Estate Group). My mission is to redefine the real estate industry by providing a truly luxurious experience for every client, regardless of their price point. I believe everyone deserves the highest level of service, expertise and attention to detail when it comes to buying or selling their home.
Where are you originally from?
Frankie and I met at a local dive bar, drinking beer and shooting pool in Atlanta, GA a few years after graduating from college. We moved to Denver (after 6 months of dating!) for my job, which at the time, was in advertising. We have been in Denver since February 2003 and were properly welcomed 3 weeks later by the Blizzard of ‘03. Good times.

How long have you lived in this neighborhood?
We bought our home in September of 2021. We renovated the interior of the home and moved in October 2022. It’s been my dream to move into this neighborhood ever since I showed up to my first Crestmoor tennis match 15 years ago. I fell in love with the neighborhood, the community feel, and of course, the homes. The windy streets, larger lots, and ranch-style homes reminded me of the South (not on a grid) -- and I fell in love. It took us a while to find the right Crestmoor home for us, but we absolutely LOVE it and wish we had made the move sooner.

What college/university did you attend?
Amy: Georgia Southern University (Print Management)
Frankie: Kennesaw State University (Marketing) and University of Colorado (Executive MBA)
BUT… we are HUGE University of Georgia football fans. Go Dawgs!!

What do you like to do to relax?
We love to curl up on the couch in front of the fireplace and watch a good movie. As a family, we love to go out to dinner or simply spend time together (when we can get the girls off their phones). ☺ We also like to go up to our mountain home and take in the fresh air.
How are you involved in the community?
We put together a roster for our block so that everyone has each other’s contact info, whether it be for those sunny-day front porch adult beverages, or just in case something doesn’t look right on the block. It’s a great way for everyone to keep an eye out for each other. We also helped host our annual block party last Fall. We just love seeing all our neighbors come together for some social fun.

As a Realtor, I’m also very active in a non-profit called Shared Power through Project I See You. The Shared Power initiative supports women who are first-time homeowners and/or small business owners to receive access to life-changing grants and a network of support. It’s a great opportunity for me to give back to my community within my real estate network. If you are interested in learning more about this powerful organization, please reach out to me.

What activities are the kids involved in?
Addyson is a Sophomore at East High School and is active on the Varsity Swim Team, JV Tennis Team, and DECA. She also works at Sienna Wine Bar (Congress Park) when she isn’t busy with her school, sports, and social activities. Bella is an 8th Grader at Morey Middle School and loves being part of the softball, soccer, and volleyball teams. Both girls swim year-round with the Denver Tritons and with the Crestmoor Barracudas in the Summer. And for all the parents of younger kiddos -- both girls LOVE to babysit, should you need a local babysitter in the ‘hood.

What is your favorite part about living in your neighborhood?
Moving here from Congress Park, where the streets are a lot denser and more congested, we absolutely LOVE the walkability without having to worry too much about lots of traffic and safety issues. We also love the Tennis and pool aspects of the neighborhood, which will be perfect for the amazing Spring through Fall weather we have. Lastly, we have a great block with some amazing neighbors – and for the Holiday months, we get to admire the big, beautiful blue tree!

What are your family traditions?
We have so many family traditions that the girls love, but since we are in February, our Valentine’s Day tradition is to order heart-shaped pizzas and cookie dough from Papa Murphy’s, then curl up on the couch for a good movie with the girls. It’s not glitzy and glamorous, but it sure is amazing family time.

Activities/Hobbies:
Frankie and I love to play tennis as much as we can. We love to watch Georgia (college) football. We are avid UGA fans. I also like to sail (even though that is harder, living in a landlocked state), while Frankie enjoys hanging out and playing cornhole on a sunny summer day.

Park/Play Area/Hang Out:
When we’re not playing tennis, we love going to City Park Jazz in the Summertime, catching a show at Red Rocks, or just hanging out with friends. We love hosting in our new home any chance we get. We foresee many fun gatherings with great friends.

Restaurants:
Anything Mexican we LOVE, but 7 Leguas is our favorite! Fontana Sushi (on Alameda) is phenomenal for lunch or dinner. Our trick is to belly up to the sushi bar and have the chef make us whatever he wants. For breakfast, Basil Doc’s biscuits are quickly becoming a part of our routine. Because we’re partial to Congress Park, Sweet Cooie’s is our go-to for ice cream. Lastly, when you need to get out of the house for some adult refreshments at a great local staple, the College Inn is our fave.

Vacation Destination
We spend a lot of our vacation time traveling back to the South to visit with family. Usually, you will find us at Lake Hartwell in SC during the July 4th weekend. We did get to go sailing to the British Virgin Islands (BVIs) last Summer for 10 days with another family. We rented a 48’ Catamaran sailboat where me and the other husband captained the boat, while his wife was the chef, and Frankie was the much-loved bartender.

Sports Teams:
UGA Football, Atlanta Braves, and Atlanta Falcons. We also “support local” and cheer on the Nuggs, Avs, Rocks (except when playing the Braves), and Broncos (except when they play our crappy Falcons)!

TV Show/Movie:
You will find me watching a good murder mystery or documentary every night. Frankie loves watching new Netflix and Prime series. And the girls have most recently been watching Outer Banks.

Music:
I love Classic Rock music (Tom Petty, Eagles) and 90s Country, while Frankie likes anything from Country to Classic Rock to 90s to hardcore rap – and most everything in between. The girls are ALL ABOUT some Taylor Swift. They can’t get enough!

Family Dinner: Due to our busy and unpredictable schedules, we signed up for Green Chef and we LOVE it. It eliminates the frustration of deciding what to eat for dinner and the grocery shopping that accompanies it. And, it gets us all in the kitchen cooking together.
