Hi! I’m Rafael Almeida, originally from Brazil, came to Hilton Head Island on an Internship with Barony Hotel in 2005. I came here to learn the language and ended up falling in love with the culture, the area, as well as work ethic. I have been here 18 years now.

I am the owner of Lux Designs, with my wife Anna Almeida. I have been in the masonry business for over 13 years. I am drawn to the satisfaction of accomplishing something meaningful every day and bringing clients' dreams to life. I especially enjoy collaborating with clients - being able to give an idea, then an owner taking that idea with a twist of their own. From outlining the project to supporting a foundation to doing the final touch-up cleaning to welcoming an added-on beautiful hardscape plat for the owners, I enjoy the entire process.

We provide indoor and outdoor hardscape projects, commercial and residential, as well as bathroom remodels. I provide exceptional craftsmanship and attention to detail. At LUX Designs, we offer a wide variety of hardscape solutions that can enhance the beauty, functionality, and value of your outdoor space. We are proud to serve both residential and commercial clients on a variety of projects.

I’m passionate about meeting new people from professional networking to making new friends. That passion extends into giving back to the community. Anna and I are involved with organizations such as Hopeful Horizons and CURE. However, my biggest joy may come from participating in the building of Anna’s one-of-a-kind creations/ add-ons to our home, honey-do-list.

My wife and I, along with our two pups, live in Lawton Station and love being in the up-and-coming Buckwalter area.  Our two amazing pups are 10 years old. German Shepherds, Vito & Jada. We love to make sure they are the most spoiled dogs. As my wife says, “This is our forever home, we need a pool in our backyard just for the pups.”

I like how easy it is to get to Old Town as well as Savannah, Charleston and of course Hilton Head Island. We enjoy making day trips to Savannah and Charleston. Our newest area that we tend to visit often is Port Royal in Beaufort, such a cute up-and-coming town. When not working, you will find me at the gym, cooking my famous Brazilian steak Picanha, or walking the spoiled dogs.

Owning my own hardscape business was always something I wanted to do. Thanks to my wife for pushing me. This is a passion that I love to bring to others, and they enjoy the work that I do.
