Meet the Moms Behind the Digital Balance Project:
How Two Anderson Township Moms Are Leading a Movement to Raise Healthier, Happier, Tech-Smart Kids
In the heart of Anderson Township, two moms, wives, and healthcare professionals—Meghan Robinson and Alexis Rod—are taking on one of the biggest parenting questions of our time:
How do we help our children grow up in a smartphone and social-media world…without losing their childhood in the process?
For Meghan and Alexis, the question hit home when their oldest children turned 7 years old (they are now 12). Both noticed the same things: growing conversations about online trends, increased peer pressure around devices, and a feeling that childhood was moving at digital speed. Even as medical professionals—Meghan a school-based physical therapist, and Alexis a Family Nurse Practitioner—they felt the same uncertainty as every other parent.
“So what do we do?” they asked each other.
Their answer became the foundation of their project: “We do it TOGETHER.”
The Birth of the Digital Balance Project
With their shared healthcare backgrounds, Meghan and Alexis dug into the research on child development, adolescent mental health, and the impact of early and prolonged exposure to smartphones and social media. What they found was clear: kids need time—time to grow emotionally, socially, and cognitively before entering the social media world!
And so, The Digital Balance Project was born.
Their mission is straightforward yet transformative:
To educate and empower families to cultivate healthy tech habits—and to help parents confidently delay social media until their children are developmentally ready.
Building a Village Around Healthy Tech Habits
The Digital Balance Project isn’t just a program—it’s a community movement. Meghan and Alexis believe deeply in the old saying: it takes a village to raise a child. In today’s world, they argue, that the village must also work together to create shared expectations around technology.
To support local families, they’ve hosted a wide range of workshops at Forest Hills Foundations’ Parent Academy including:
Adults-only sessions to unpack current research and review the viral book, Anxious Generation
Adult + child workshops to spark family-level conversations
Children-only sessions to help kids understand the “why” behind waiting
Each workshop blends the latest research with relatable, real-life experiences—offering both education and community.
Their goal isn’t to shame or scare families.
It’s to open the dialogue, share the science behind the “Why Wait?” message, and make it easier for parents to make informed decisions—together.
Why Their Work Matters
Today’s kids face pressures and influences no previous generation has experienced at such a young age. Meghan and Alexis bring a refreshing perspective: one rooted in community, compassion, and common sense. They understand both the science and the heart behind raising resilient, connected children.
By creating a supportive network for families, The Digital Balance Project is helping Anderson Township—and soon, far beyond—rewrite the narrative around technology and childhood.
A Local Movement with a Lasting Impact
What started as a conversation between two moms has grown into a powerful local initiative—and a beacon of hope for families searching for balance in a tech-driven world.
Meghan and Alexis continue to expand their workshops, grow partnerships, and foster a culture where parents don’t have to figure this out alone.
Because ultimately, as they discovered when their own children were just seven years old:
The healthiest way to navigate the digital world is to navigate it—together.
