Autumn in the Smokies

Autumn is the premier season of the year for our region which includes the Carolinas, surrounding states, and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The brilliant and variant colors of yellows and reds along with the fading hues of orange and green provide our senses with a palette of visual beauty. It can be intoxicating to the senses when combined in a setting with a creek or other natural water feature. I photographed this image near the Gatlinburg entrance into the Great Smoky Mountains National Park after a short walk along one of the paths behind the Sugarland Visitor Center. This scene was very inviting to me, and I knew I had to share this with others once I returned to Clemson and had the opportunity to see this photo on my computer.
