Catching Up With the Alexanders

One of the first families to appear in this publication was the Alexander family. In 2015, Caitlyn and Chris had only been in Morgantown for a few years after moving here from Modesto, California. They both worked in real estate; she as a realtor and he as a developer with his father. Their two little girls danced and recited every line from Frozen, while baby Parker tagged along on all the family’s adventures.

We thought it would be fun to catch up with the Alexanders once again to see how life has changed over the past nine years. They have since built their forever home in the Walnut Creek neighborhood, allowing plenty of room for their active nine-year-old and two teenagers to thrive. Zoey, a Goldendoodle, and Nala, the Ragdoll kitty, have also joined the family.

Caitlyn is now an associate broker and top-producing Realtor at Howard Hanna Premier Properties. With 16 years in real estate, she’s grown true to her tagline Morgantown’s “HouseSOLD name.” Just drive through the Cheat Lake area and you’re bound to see her signs in the front yards of our neighborhoods.

Chris has grown his construction and development business. He recently partnered with a new excavation company; Core Excavating. Their services range from small jobs for homeowners to large commercial jobs. Their most recent project was the demolition of the old Shoney’s restaurant, including site work, to prepare for the new O’Reilly Auto Parts store.

The Alexanders, who met as high school sweethearts, have become a successful team, combining their construction skills, real estate connections and Caitlyn’s flair for design. They created Heritage Properties, a townhome rental company. Chris builds and maintains the properties, while Caitlyn designs and leases them.

The Alexander kids have changed quite a bit since 2015! Riley is now a junior at University High. Through the years, she has been active in sports but most recently decided to focus on her studies. Addalyn is now an eighth grader at Mountaineer Middle who enjoys dancing at Kat & Company Dance Studio. Parker is a fourth grader at Eastwood Elementary who plays football and basketball.

The Alexanders have quite a few extended family members – and they love getting together. Recently, the holiday season brought all 30-plus members of this family together. Caitlyn always hosts Christmas Eve, when aunts, uncles and cousins all gather to eat, drink and play games.

“We have a very tight family and while we may drive each other crazy sometimes, we all like to be around each other and value the family bonds,” Caitlyn shared.

Why would this California couple choose to settle in our little West Virginia town?

“We love Cheat Lake because it’s beautiful!” Caitlyn said. “It’s a little more quiet but still close to town. The Morgantown area in general won us over because of the people. The Alexander family brought us here but the friends we’ve made and the overall community are like nothing else.”
