Meet The Slemp Family

First time for the twins attending church

Matthew and Chelsea met during their freshman year of college at Belmont University in Tennessee where they were both music majors. That was nearly 18 years ago. Now 15 years into their marriage and with two brand new additions to their family, they are so thrilled to have made their way to Chateau Elan this past October.

The couple welcomed twins Max and Milly on December 16, 2022. The tiny cuties are so loved and adored by three big sisters: Mackenzie (12), Morgan (10), and Mia (3). Mackenzie is in the sixth grade at Cherokee Bluff and is following in her parents’ musical footsteps. She’s very involved with the chorus there. Morgan is in the fourth grade at Spout Springs and just started the running club. Though Mia is not in school yet, she loves socializing with friends at the gym or at church. All three girls dance at Heather Wayne’s.

Rounding out their crew at home are two lovable pups: Lucy is a seven-year-old Dalmatian and Bentley is a two-year-old black lab. “Both have lots of energy and are very protective of our kiddos,” says Chelsea.

Matthew is the worship pastor at First Baptist Church of Atlanta, where Dr. Charles Stanley pastored for more than 50 years. Both Chelsea and Matthew served alongside him for seven years and were featured as soloists many times on his TV ministry In Touch. Though Dr. Stanley retired in 2020, they continue to serve at the church. Matthew knew the ministry was his calling after he attended a pastors' conference in Jacksonville, FL, when he was 12. He started leading his first choir that year.

Chelsea has always had a passion for health and fitness, especially group classes. She’s a group fitness instructor at Bodyplex and does social marketing. “It brings me so much joy to be able to work from home as a social marketer and teach classes on the side,” she says.

The family made their way to Georgia from Tennessee, but they travel back frequently. “We are huge fans of Dollywood and still get season passes, even though we live four hours away,” she explains. When they’re not road-tripping back to the Volunteer State, they like to make their way to the beach. Everyone in their family loves the warm weather and water. They enjoy the water locally as members of a boat club at Lake Lanier. They love boating as a family!

Around town, their favorite restaurant is Bibas and they enjoy having Longhorn so close by. When it’s time to relax, they’ll jump on the golf cart for a ride around the neighborhood or take some time for a massage. Chelsea likes mani/pedis, but says sometimes, after a long day or week, it’s just a Netflix and chill kind of night. Matt loves to play golf and has already gotten in quite a few games here in the neighborhood.

Say hello when you see them around — with five kiddos, they plan to attend many of the fun neighborhood events in the coming months and years.
