North Valley Junk Removal

Tell us about the events that led up to where you are now. My wife Elizabeth and I were working for a local bank at the time social media was getting bigger and bigger. I was on a local Facebook page and noticed a nice lady asking if someone could help her by picking up and disposing of a washer. My wife and I decided to help her since I have a trailer and 15 years of experience in the furniture & logistics business. After that, we continued to see more social media posts requesting junk/appliance removal; so, we stepped up again to help people out. Soon it became our part-time job while we were both still working at the bank. Word of mouth spread and we became pretty busy. So in September 2020, I took the leap after 11 years with the bank and went full-time as a business owner and operator.

Explain the benefits of working with your company. The last thing you want to worry about is the pile of trees in your driveway, the broken refrigerator in the garage, or the old furniture you no longer want. 1) We save you the hassle of renting a truck. 2) We spare you the time and patience needed to load up the junk. 3) We save you the cost of time and gas it takes to go to the dump—and also having to wait sometimes up to two hours to complete the dump legally. 4) We provide peace of mind that you are working with a commercially insured company that prides itself in reusing, recycling, donating, or dumping legally.

What’s something unique about your business? After noticing a lot of illegal dumping in the desert and surrounding roadsides, we wanted to do something about it. So we started Don't Dump in Our Desert—a local volunteer-based desert cleanup group. We sponsor the clean-ups by providing the tools, bags, trailers, and legal disposal services. We started by telling our customers about it and promoting it online. Before we knew it, we had 50+ volunteers. We have since completed 21 volunteer desert clean-ups in three years. And in 2021, we received a Congressional Letter of Recognition from Representative Debbie Lesko for the volunteer work we have done with Don't Dump in Our Desert. If you would like to be a part of the cleanups, please follow us on Facebook for upcoming dates.

We care a lot about our community. So we also work with many different charities and businesses to make sure our community is taken care of in other ways. We have an ongoing relationship with Foothills Food Bank to provide food donations. We sponsor and volunteer at local community events. We volunteer at local shred-a-thons and help recycle the boxes people bring their documents in. Never would I have thought we would be in the situation to be able to help so many; it makes our hearts happy to do so.

What is a service you offer that a lot of people probably don’t know about? We provide light demo. We tear down, remove, and dispose of sheds, hot tubs, pergolas, decks, pool fencing, small retaining walls, etc.

What’s the nicest thing a customer has ever said to you? We get told that they love us and wish there were more people like us around to help. We just try and treat each person like they are family.

What advice do you have for readers? Sometimes if it is too good to be true, it really is. Unfortunately with the influx of uninsured junk removal businesses, they don't charge appropriately, and this is when we see a lot more illegal dumping. So buyer beware.

What do you like best about Cave Creek residents/the town? The residents bring me back to the days when being polite and treating people with respect was the norm. The small-town community welcomes all and is also very giving to their community. The town is also beautiful with its cacti and landscaping, and also the amazing shops and restaurants.

Tell us about your family. We are originally from Sacramento, CA. My wife and I have been married for 23 years and have three kids Nathan, Kailey, and Brandon. Brandon now lives in Emerald Isle, NC and works as a realtor. Nathan started with the business as a full-time operator/driver in 2021. Kailey attends Physician Assistant school in Mesa. And we have two Boston Terriers, two goats, a bird (Green Cheek Conure), and a bunny.

Where might we see you on a day off? We love the water. So if we can get away to kayak or jet ski, that's what we do. Also traveling, gold mining, and camping.
