For Family
For the Childs family, moving to Carriage Hill was a no-brainer.

Dan and Bev Childs moved to Carriage Hill in 2021 after their daughter encouraged them to be closer to her family; they agreed and quickly started looking at homes. They first found a home outside of Carriage Hill, but once they drove through the Cypress Village Community, they made a call to Karen Taylor of MI Homes and made the decision to shift their plans!
Bev was born in Valparaiso, Chile, where her father was stationed as a Career Navy officer. The family moved back to the United States when she was 5 years old. It wasn’t until she was 21 years old that she declared her citizenship. After graduating from Miami University, she went to work for Champion International Paper, where she retired after 35 years as the Transportation and Warehousing Manager. Dan is from the Hamilton/Fairfield area and attended Miami University, where he majored in business administration. He worked for 23 years at Champion International Paper and ended his working career with 24 years at Armstrong World Industries as a Regional Sales Manager.
“We have two children,” Bev says. “Casey owns Great American Soft Wash and Great American Christmas Lights, and his wife, Shannon, is a teacher at Maderia High School.
They have five children and reside in Loveland. Our daughter Christy is a Certified Real Estate Appraiser; her husband, Jeremy, is with the Cincinnati Police Department.” They have three children and reside in Liberty Twp.
It’s a tradition for the Childs family to gather and celebrate family birthdays, and with everyone living in the area, that makes the tradition all the easier and more fun! The crew will also gather at the vacation condo in Panama City Beach, Florida, for a week away, together, having fun in the sun.
Since moving to Carriage Hill, Dan and Bev have had positive changes to their personal and social lives. Bev is part of the morning water aerobics group, Women’s Euchre. Dan plays golf twice a week and men’s monthly. Together they enjoy the monthly “Dining Out Group” with other couples in the neighborhood and couples Euchre and Pinochle.
“Our circle of friends has exploded as we have developed relationships with so many in the community,” Dan shares.
Date Night Out
Bev and Dan typically eat at home, but when they do eat out, they love to head to Carlo and Johnny, as well as Mamma DiSalvo’s Italian restaurant in Dayton.
During the summer, you can usually find Dan and Bev at the Adult Pool or tooling around in their golf cart.
