Your Talented Neighbor, Ampy Cox
Ampy enjoys creating abstract art for her home.

How did you get started and how long have you been creating?
In high school (50+ years)
What motivates and inspires you to create?
Whenever I do a new house project and have to add artwork, I do my own (or have my NY artist son's work).
When do you feel most creative?
I get inspired mostly when I’m bored! Tell us about your favorite artistic work or project you've done.
The big piece that I did during COVID-19 that is hanging in our entrance. Everyone loves it! What is your proudest accomplishment with your creative work?
My entrance painting. Also, I have two sculptures of myself I did in high school in Montreal, Canada when I was 13 that turned out pretty good (if I may stay so myself....)
What advice do you have for other artists whether they've been creating for years or just starting out?
Just do the best you can and you’ll get better with time and just go for it each time. Where can people see your artwork? Is it for sale?
I am going to try to sell some online (Marketplace) soon since people tell me that a lot of people like abstracts.Sidebar:
Did you know that Ampy was also a competitive swimmer in Cuba? Her father was a well-known swim coach for Cuba and took many swimmers to different Olympic Games. She has been swimming since age seven and thinks about her dad while ticking off the laps. Her advice to the competitive swimmers out there is to practice practice practice and swim lots of laps!
