The Christian family—West, Dana, Clayton, Ford and Breezy, their Boston Terrier—are among our newest neighbors, having moved to Buffalo Creek this April from Laguna Beach, California. Seeking a lifestyle and environment that better reflected their family values, they set their sights on Texas. With help from a close friend and Dallas realtor who grew up in Heath, they toured more than 40 homes across the Metroplex in one weekend. The house on Country Club was the only one deserving of a second look—it was clear it was the perfect fit for their family.

 

Dana grew up in Northern California and earned a business degree with a minor in economics from St. Mary’s College of California. West was raised in Georgia until the age of 12 when his family moved to Arizona. He attended the University of Arizona where he studied business marketing. The two met at a social event on December 3, 2014, thanks to mutual friends. A year later West proposed and on December 3, 2016, exactly two years after they met, they were married at the Parker Hotel in Palm Springs. After living in Scottsdale for a few years, they moved to Laguna Beach in 2018 to be near the ocean.

 

West describes himself as a serial entrepreneur, having launched his first business at 14, running errands and grocery deliveries for seniors. Today, he is the owner and CEO of School Food Handler, a tech company that provides customized training and FDA compliance solutions for school nutrition professionals in more than 500 districts nationwide—impacting over 5 million meals daily. Dana is a stay-at-home mom to their sons, Clayton (7) and Ford (5), and has a strong passion for creative hobbies and arts & crafts projects and undertakings. She owned her own hobby and arts & crafts studio in Laguna Beach and is getting ready to re-establish herself here in Texas. Clayton, a first grader at Amy Parks, is known for his charisma, humor, and athleticism. His favorite subjects are math and science, recently edging out his former fascination with ancient Egyptian history. He dreams of becoming either an astronaut or an archaeologist. Clayton plays flag football for the Heath Hawks in the Rockwall Youth Community Athletic program, rotating between defensive end and tackle. He also enjoys tennis—taking lessons at the Tennis Club this summer—and has recently started golfing with his dad at the Buffalo Creek Golf Club.

 

Ford just turned five and attends Pre-K at Galaxy Ranch. The youngest in the family, he’s full of personality and strong opinions, always making his voice heard. Like his brother, he’s athletic and enjoys basketball, T-ball, and soccer, but he also shares his mom’s love of arts and crafts. True to his name, Ford has a passion for cars—even sleeping in a custom blue Ford truck bed. Both boys are strong swimmers from their years by the ocean and love spending time in the backyard pool. They’re also avid Lego builders, often creating projects together as a family, with several of Clayton’s displayed proudly in his room.

 

As a family, the Christians love to travel and have a trip to Costa Rica planned in December and to the Washington D.C. area for spring break. Visits to West’s parents in Georgia means time on the ranch, riding four-wheelers, and enjoying the outdoors. Dana, a former high school and college cheerleader, still enjoys dance—especially ballet—and is often working on creative craft projects. West, ever the serial entrepreneur, is also a serial hobbyist who enjoys photography and recently taught himself to play guitar. For date nights, Dana and West enjoy a quiet evening at the movies or dinner at Zanata, one of their favorite Rockwall spots.

 

When moving to Texas, Dana and West were seeking excellent schools and a friendly, supportive community to raise their boys. We’re delighted they found that here in Buffalo Creek and wish them many happy years of memories and Texas-sized adventures ahead.
