Bridgewater Garden Club Tours the Governor's Mansion
A day out for the ladies to enjoy the beautiful home and grounds our of Mississippi Governor's Mansion
A beautiful day for Bridgewater Garden Club’s first meeting of 2025-26 as we toured the Mississippi Governor’s Mansion followed by a luncheon at Taste Italian Restaurant.
First, we boarded a fun party bus driven by Buster Mooneyham from VIP Limo and headed to the mansion. Once there, we were greeted by Elizabeth Batton, Curator for the Mississippi Governor’s Mansion. We were given a historical tour of the interior of the mansion. Our tour guides: Bernie Lieb, Kathryn Lee, and their apprentice Angel Frantz provided extensive history on each room.
Next, we stepped out to the Governor’s Mansion East Garden where pictures cannot reveal the true beauty of landscape. “The Lemon House” was a favorite as it is the focal point as you enter the garden. Blooms, butterflies, and native towering trees flanked this beautiful garden!
The garden is beautiful and well-maintained and filled with plants native to Mississippi including Rose of Sharon/Lenten Rose, Climbing Hydrangea, Boxwoods and lemon trees.
The luncheon at newly opened Taste Italian Restaurant wrapped up this fun day where the members discussed the upcoming meeting dates and topics. Everyone enjoyed the wonderful food and ambiance of the private event wine room.
The garden club outing was planned by the BGC officers: President-Heidi Locke; Co-Vice Presidents -Leslie Elliott and Myriam Harris and Secretary/Treasurer-Olivia Host.
Bridgewater neighbors are welcome to join at any time, the dues are $25 annually.
