Social Time & Strength Training

The rewards of working out with a personal trainer in a group setting

I’m a full-time-working mom to two little whirlwinds: Eloise, 7, and Maren, 4. Most days feel like a chaotic blend of meetings, extracurricular activities, bedtime battles and unaccomplished to-do lists that multiply like laundry!

Now that I’m in my 40s, I’ve started to notice I’m not as strong as I used to be. I just want to stay active and in shape so I can keep up with my kids! I’ve heard so many great (and tough!) things about Burn Boot Camp from friends, so I figured it was time to give it a try myself.

I used to run, but my knees and arthritis had other plans. So, before Burn Boot Camp I stuck to walks and workouts with MIRROR [now lululemon Studio]. I love the convenience of working out at home, but I missed the social aspect of being around real people!

Now that I’m a member of Burn Boot Camp, I definitely have more energy, and working out actually feels fun instead of like a chore. It’s more like a little reward I give myself. My goal is to rebuild strength in my legs and core so I can enjoy running again — without the pain getting in the way!

Some days it’s tough to fit in a workout, so I usually go for the noon camp since it’s during my lunch break and I’m not cutting into family time. I’ve thought about the 5:30 a.m. session to get it done early and still be home for the girls’ morning routine, but I haven’t committed to that yet!

I love going to Burn because I often run into a friend or a familiar face. It keeps me motivated and makes the whole experience more fun and social! Finding a workout I genuinely enjoy makes staying motivated so much easier.
