After spending over a decade in retail management, Chris and Suzy Muccio decided it was time to get out. No more 70-hour workweeks with zero return on investment. No more missing their children growing up. No more absences from family gatherings during Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. No more overnights spent stocking stores, running inventory or dealing with Black Fridays. They had enough. Doing a complete 180, Chris picked up a job installing gutters and gutter guards with his brother, learning the ins and outs of the gutter trade.

In June 2020, using a combination of skills learned in the gutter industry, retail management and both of their formal educations, Chris and Suzy (both graduates of UNC Charlotte with degrees in management and marketing, respectively) set out on a journey to change their lives for the better. Going for broke, they cashed in their 401(k)s and, with some extra help from family, were able to acquire a truck, a trailer and a gutter machine. Blue Mountain Gutter Co. was born.

“We pride ourselves on being problem solvers, rather than just a gutter company,” Suzy says. “We don’t want to push homeowners into purchasing expensive, unneeded products. As members of the community, it’s important to us that we address and fix your problem, providing you with the products and services that you actually need. Our friendly team of professionals focuses on maintaining relationships, rather than completing transactions and checking off boxes.”

Chris says, “Our quality and craftsmanship are second to none. Our team includes local members of the Asheville and Hendersonville communities, all compensated above market wages. We never subcontract any of our work. We are fully insured, including workers’ compensation and liability policies. All of our installations are backed by both workmanship and manufacturer warranties.”

Chris and Suzy moved to Asheville for a job offer in 2013 after graduating from college. They have two sons, both born at Mission Hospital. Ben, 9 years old, is a student at IC Imagine Public Charter School and is a Cub Scout in Pack 91. Zac, 4 years old, attends preschool at Beverly Hills Baptist Church.

Blue Mountain Gutter Co. is a member of the Asheville Chamber of Commerce and a sponsor of IC Imagine, and has been working relentlessly to help our community rebuild their homes in the wake of Helene.
