Local Wounded Veteran Receives Free Electric Vehicle

Sunshine Chevrolet and Wells Fargo teamed up with the Military Warriors Support Foundation to honor U.S. Army Sergeant Kevin Ager.

Former U.S. Army Sergeant Kevin Ager said he's so grateful to the Military Warriors Support Foundation for his new Chevy Equinox.

Former U.S. Army Sergeant Kevin Ager, a wounded veteran impacted when Hurricane Helene hit Western North Carolina, was honored for his service and sacrifice by receiving a payment-free electric vehicle from Military Warriors Support Foundation’s (MWSF) Transportation4Heroes program, in collaboration with Wells Fargo and Sunshine Chevrolet. Local Scouting America's Daniel Boone Council partnered with Sunshine Chevrolet by providing a vehicle maintenance plan for the veteran and a year of Scouting America membership for his daughter.

The local community and Scouts gathered for a lunch and a key ceremony at Sunshine Chevrolet to show their support for Sergeant Kevin Ager and the local veteran community. “I’m at a point in my life where I really couldn’t buy a new vehicle, and it was so great to get the support to be able to continue to do what I do, help other people,” Ager said. “I’m really grateful for the foundation, too. It’s just an amazing thing.”

Kristy and Don Elliott from Sunshine Chevrolet, Rob Lyles from Wells Fargo, and Allison Peterson from MWSF, presented Ager with his new Chevrolet Equinox AWD EV. Joshua Christ from Daniel Boone Council presented Ager's vehicle maintenance plan and Scouting America membership.

MWSF is a 501(C)(3) non-profit charity, founded by LTG. Leroy Sisco with a mission to provide programs that facilitate a smooth and successful transition for our nation’s combat-wounded military heroes, Gold-Star spouses and their families. MWSF Transportation4Heroes has awarded more than 200 vehicles across the United States.

Former U.S. Army Sergeant Kevin Ager joined the U.S. Army in 2005 in Charlotte, NC and served as an Infantryman with deployments to Iraq and Kosovo. Ager completed Airborne School, Special Operations Preparation, and Special Forces selection. Ager's military awards include Combat Infantry Badge, Afghanistan Campaign Medal w/ Campaign Star, Iraq Campaign Medal with Campaign Star and more.

Currently residing in Fairview, Ager is committed to furthering his education and career by planning to attend college. He is also a dedicated father and continues to serve his community by teaching music and assisting his community in Fairview by helping homeowners with repairs. Ager says this donation will make it a lot easier for him to visit friends and family.
