Brookridge Retirement Community

For more than three decades, Brookridge has been a place where older adults can thrive. Since opening its doors in 1989, this Winston-Salem community has been part of a much larger story through its parent organization, ThriveMore, which is celebrating 75 years of service across North Carolina. More Than a Place to Live
Independent living is the foundation of the Brookridge experience, where residents enjoy a maintenance-free lifestyle that frees them up to focus on what matters most. Days are filled with opportunities to stay active, build friendships, and participate in social and cultural events that make life feel full and meaningful.

Dining plays a central role in that experience. With a new restaurant concept in place, Brookridge’s approach to dining feels more like going out to a favorite restaurant than following a routine. With chef-prepared meals, inviting spaces, and a focus on choice and connection, mealtime becomes something residents genuinely look forward to.

Wellness is equally woven into everyday life. Rather than a one-size-fits-all program, Brookridge takes a personalized approach. Residents can meet one on one with the Wellness Director to create a plan tailored to their interests and goals. From group fitness classes and aqua programs to walking groups and educational sessions, staying well feels natural, social, and enjoyable.

Brookridge is a Life Plan Community, which means that as needs change over time, residents have the reassurance of a full continuum of care right on campus, including assisted living, skilled nursing, rehabilitation, and memory care. This allows individuals to remain in a familiar, supportive environment, surrounded by the community they know and love.
Innovation with Heart

One of the most unique aspects of Brookridge is its forward-thinking approach to care and community.

Their innovative memory care model allows individuals with dementia to continue living alongside their care partner, offering a compassionate and deeply human approach that supports both individuals and families. The EverTogether Residence currently under construction is the first of its kind.

Another standout feature is the Center for Thriving Children, an on-site childcare center operated in partnership with Imprints Cares. This intergenerational program brings together residents and children in meaningful everyday interactions. Whether it is shared activities or simple moments of connection, these experiences bring joy, learning, and a sense of purpose to all involved.

A Welcome That Feels Like Home
For many residents, what stands out most about Brookridge is not just the amenities or the beautiful wooded campus. It is the feeling.
From the very beginning, new residents are met with warmth and genuine care that makes the transition feel less like a move and more like coming home. Team members take time to learn names, preferences, and routines, creating relationships that feel personal and sincere.
For residents like Carole Telly, this attention made an immediate difference. With the help of familiar, friendly faces such as Danie Haefele, she quickly felt settled, supported and confident that she was exactly where she belonged.
“She just made me feel very comfortable from the beginning,” Carole said

That sense of belonging extends beyond the resident experience. Families frequently share how reassuring it is to know their loved one is surrounded by people who are genuinely invested in their wellbeing. As Bethany Mills shared about her mother’s experience at Brookridge, “She gives me such a sense of peace when it comes to knowing my mother is exactly where she is supposed to be, and that she will be loved on and cared for with the integrity and grace that we expect.”

Looking Ahead
With a strong foundation and a clear mission, Brookridge continues to reimagine what aging can look like when it is rooted in faith, connection, and purpose. Every resident’s story becomes part of a legacy that has been growing for more than 75 years, and it is a story that continues to unfold with heart.
