Davie Women’s Auxiliary Celebrates First Anniversary
The Davie Women’s Auxiliary proudly celebrated its first anniversary with a successful Annual Membership Meeting held at ReStore in the Town of Bermuda Run. This milestone event marked a year of remarkable growth, service, and community engagement, bringing together members, supporters, and partners to reflect on past accomplishments and cast a bold vision for the future.
Established in 2024, the Auxiliary was created to empower women through service, leadership, and civic engagement. In just twelve months, the organization has made a significant impact by supporting local initiatives, fostering fellowship, and contributing to meaningful causes throughout Davie County and the surrounding areas.
A Dual Celebration: Reflection and Renewal
The evening served as both a celebration of the Auxiliary’s inaugural year and the official launch of its next chapter. The program featured:

Founding Co Chair Sue Whittaker opened the event with a heartfelt reflection on the Auxiliary’s journey.
“What began as a small circle of committed women has blossomed into a powerful force for good,” she shared. “We have shown what is possible when women come together with a shared purpose.”

The Auxiliary played a leading role in organizing this major fundraiser, which raised over $50,000. Most of the proceeds benefited Habitat for Humanity of Davie County.

Seasonal Plant Sales for Charity
Through poinsettia and geranium sales, members raised funds to support local nonprofits and community initiatives.

Leadership and Looking Ahead
During the Annual Meeting, Sallye Liner was reelected Treasurer for a second term. Gaye Orsini was elected Vice President for a two year term, bringing new leadership and energy to the Executive Committee.
Committee chairs also provided updates on the year’s outreach efforts, fundraising accomplishments, and community partnerships. Looking ahead, the Auxiliary will focus on several key initiatives, including:
- The partnership with Bermuda Village Christmas Dinner and Silent Auction, benefitting Habitat for Humanity of Davie County
- Expanded community outreach and volunteer engagement
- Regular monthly member meetings and enrichment opportunities
Fellowship and Community Spirit
The evening concluded with a time of fellowship featuring homemade soups, baked goods, and shopping at ReStore. This relaxed, festive atmosphere allowed members and guests to connect, share stories, and celebrate the unity and purpose that define the Davie Women’s Auxiliary.
